After this idea with diziara and duaiwe I've been thinking more and more about how the store would work. Obviously we'd want some sort of barcode reader system (as fast as I am at ten key, I hated keying in UPCs at Evergreen Drug) plus that would allow for automated inventory systems.

I hadn't really given it much thought though, until Diziara brought up using : ( Read more... )

Unfortunately, I haven't gotten any comments from people willing to donate :cueCats. I wonder if I'll need to start adding it to sigs on forums or something. *pout*

That project hasn't been updated in almost 4 years...I'd hesitate to use something that wasn't finished and wasn't supported.

I'm with hob, I'd be wary of using software that's so old and updated.

BUT! I like to think I'm fairly proficient with PHP and mySQL. A quick perusal of that Barware looks like It wouldn't be that hard to modify if needed.

If nothing else, it'd be a good start.

PHP and MySQL are both really easy to use, you'll be fine. So long as you're familiar with basic SQL and C/C++/Java etc. coding the step over to MySQL and PHP is fairly trivial.
