A Lord of the Rings Story
Rating: PG-13
Disclaimer: SUE ME NOT. ME IN COLLEGE. HAVE NO MONEY.
Author’s Note: I have seen FotR and TTT, but I have not read the books. All that is familiar belongs to JRR Tolkien. Please forgive any discrepancies that exist as I have only started reading the trilogy and I just got into this series last week! This is my first LotR fic.
Summary: Pre- FotR (shortly before). Aragorn and Legolas on an adventure that turns... well, strange.
NO SLASH!
Special thanks to Amy for her help!

Aragorn nearly collapsed next to the fire that he and Legolas had managed to start. They had been out nearly all day hunting for the group of orcs that now wandered along the borders of the Elven territory. They had killed an Elf just last week and had attacked and killed many men already.
“Perhaps we should consider attempting to find them tonight,” Legolas suggested.
“Hunting at night is never a good idea, you know that,” Aragorn said. “Besides, I’m not sure I can go another step without some sleep. We’ve gone nonstop for days.”
“I’m not tired at all.” Legolas responded.
“Yeah yeah,” Aragorn sighed. “That old Elf stamina of yours. Look, we’ll find them eventually. It’s not that big a deal.”
“If I were hunting with another Elf, we would have found them by now.” Legolas sighed, then glanced over at Aragorn. “I meant no offence.”
“Too bad you couldn’t become a mortal for a day,” Aragorn sighed, rolling his eyes. “Then you’d know how it feels.”

Legolas awoke the next morning and opened his eyes. Everything was incredibly dim. He squinted his eyes, hoping that they would clear or adjust but they did not. “Aragorn? Something is wrong with my eyesight.”
Aragorn nearly jumped out of his skin when Legolas spoke, the sound like thunder. He clutched his ears, suddenly realizing that his hair was longer than it should have been... and blonde...
“Aragorn are you...” Legolas turned toward his friend and saw... himself. He looked down at his hands, suddenly realizing they weren’t his.. He saw his own body clutching his ears, his eyes squeezed shut.
With a sinking feeling, Legolas suddenly realized what had transpired. They had been switched.
Aragorn finally adjusted to the volume of light and sound that bombarded ‘his’ Elf ears and managed to relax, uncovering his ears and opening his eyes. “We’ve been...” he started to say softly.
A voice interrupted. “Switched. Yes, I know.”
Legolas and Aragorn both jumped. Behind them stood two people dressed in sea-blue costume, with pointed hats. They appeared to be wizards.
“Who are you?” Legolas asked.
“We are Alatar and Pallando, the Blue Wizards.”
“You did this to us? Change us back!” Aragorn said forcefully. It was strange to Legolas to hear his voice speaking Aragorn’s words.
“Not quite.” One of the wizards said. “You both need to learn a lesson. We shall revisit you in 24 hours. Oh, and I would not divulge to anyone what has happened. If you do, then we might forget to change you back. We alone have this power of transference. And we do mean - not a soul. Now, if we heard correctly, you are expected back in Rivendell within hours. So you best hurry.”
Then , as quickly as they had appeared, they disappeared. Legolas and Aragorn looked to each other in confusion, wondering what they would do next.
