James Cameron's completely immersive spectacle "Avatar" may have been a little too real for some fans who say they have experienced depression and suicidal thoughts after seeing the film because they long to enjoy the beauty of the alien world Pandora.

Seriously?

First of all, this story is only focused on one section of one forum of Avatar superfans. Second, the reporter seems to be taking stuff written on the internet at face value. If they were reporting an actual story, there would be two or three groups of unrelated people that are depressed because they can't go to Pandora, or interviews with more people--the only site user that was actually interviewed for the story was one 17-year-old kid. 'Til then, it seems to me that CNN is working hard to spin this story into something larger than it is. Bad reporter. No cookie for you.

Sloppy reporting aside, some people need to get a life.

If I got a letter tomorrow from the Elves of Rivendell to tell me that my Middle-Earth visa got approved, I could have a bag packed in about 15 minutes. But the odds of that happening are about 1 in never. BECAUSE IT'S A MOVIE. But I'm not terribly broken up about it, either. BECAUSE IT'S A MOVIE.

We're working as fast as we can on the home video masters, people. Once that comes out, you can "visit" Pandora any time you like. Or-- and this is a bit of a long shot-- you can step away from the fandom echo chamber and go do something else for a while.
