Well, I'm never doing that again.
I went to get groceries on the bike, and bought more than would fit in the backpack. Doh. Luckily, I'd brought a canvas bag with me. I put all the heavy things (carton of soy milk, cans, cat food, yogurt, cheese block) in the
backpack, crammed everything else (fruits, veggies, chips) in the canvas bag, and started pedaling.
A little ways out of the parking lot, I realized that I couldn't hold the (sort of heavy) sack on the handlebars without throwing my balance off, so I had to hold it *behind* me with one hand, where you'd install
panniers, more or less. This is actually rather difficult to do, but holding it anywhere in front ot the pedals makes the whole bike dangerously wobbly. On the up side, I can skip the biceps machine at the gym for a while.
Did I mention I was also going uphill? In 100-degree heat?
When I got home, I chugged a quart of water, put away the frozen things and passed the fuck out. I still feel like I'm hung over, and my shoulder is all
tweaky again. Well done, Kar3n.
In the future, I will heed the wise words of Miss Piggy: "Never eat more than you can lift."
