Ave Verum Corpus

I have finally found a wonderful equilibrium to my sleeping schedule. I sleep for about 16 hours all at once, and then I'm awake for 2 days. It evens out to eight hours a day. I'm told this is a healthy amount. It reminds me of one of my favorite axioms: Ave Verum Corpus. This means: Turn Away From the Truth of the Body. Which put another way is: mind over matter.

I haven't done this in a while, so what the hell. I'm going to rant for a bit about the dangers of smoking activists. There's this one guy out in California (fucking of course) that is currently trying to pass a bill through their state legislature that would disallow people from smoking IN THEIR OWN HOMES! My source for this is the Newsweek Magazine, about three months ago. I just read it myself. The Poliezefuhrer of the anti-smoking group (henceforth called Deuchebag Prime) is quoted as saying something akin to: "We are crossing the final boundary. Into people's homes! No longer will someone be able to say that 'My home is my castle and your opinions can't reach here!' It's very exciting!"

Let me make something plain and fucking well clear to all who don't smoke: GET THE FUCK OVER IT! If I am interrupting some fancy dinner party, or near asthmatics or kids, I don't smoke! Nor do I hold down nonsmokers and puff in the faces! And the majority of smokers are just like me.

To put things more logically: several studies done by the fucking EPA themselves have scientifically proved that secondhand smoke does not noticeably raise the likelihood for cancer. Due to an unimaginable amount of anti-smoking propaganda, not a person since about 1980 has lit a cig without knowing that it would one day kill them. The vast majority of public spaces pre-smoking ban disallowed smoking on their premises. Tobacco is one of this region's primary cash crops. And still you people bitched! And you know what, despite our best interests, we gave you ALL public places. Even the bars and pool-halls. And that just wasn't enough, was it? No, because people like Deuchebag Prime are always out there, looking after the concerns of those who just can't let other people make their own decisions.

I smoke because I enjoy it. I will stop when I rasp my last, carcinogenic breath. And nothing short of the Hand of God Himself will change that.
