Day 4: The Sound of Music / Par-tay

Sep 06, 2008 01:06

Well, technically it's been a whole day since my last post, but... that doesn't matter. ;)

Music has a powerful effect on me. It really makes a difference in whether I wake up listening to the Postal Service's "Sleeping In" or Mika's "Love Today." Music, to me, is almost like water. It can energize, relax, depress, or cheer me all at a moment's notice. I don't know if it's like that for other people, but I really can get into music.

But, (a funny thought!) why is it that I can't play any instruments? I mean, yeah sure I've got an elementary understanding of piano and a rudimentary understanding of guitar, but I can't make music the way I see some people make music.

Speaking of music, I finally saw Dr.Horrible's Sing-Along Blog today. It's a really innovative sort of thing; I can't really describe it... like musical-meets-YouTube-meets-Marvel sort of thing. I love the songs though; but then again, musicals have always seemed a bit more energetic and entertaining to me. Hairspray is one of my favorites. One of my friends asked me to go to a showing of Hairspray, but I turned him down. Now he's at Yale. *sigh*

I did get to see a lot of my friends from my old high school today, though. I hung out with a couple a year ahead of me (that is, they're college sophomores now) who I ate lunch with in high school. They're still just as funny, but I noticed... well... they gained some weight. Yeah. It's cool and all, you know, freshman 15 and whatever, but I just hope they don't get like unhealthy.

I also got to party with a few of my classmates tonight at our neighboring college. I have to admit, even though I'm a bit worried about them, it is funny as hell to be the only sober one after everyone else has done 4 shots of tequila. Ohhh man. The only thing I hate about parties like that is that, if you're not drinking, the smell of alcohol is everywhere. I literally opened the door on the big party one time and just got bowled over with the smell of beer. A lot was on the floor too...

Anyway, I won't say any more about that. I'm really tired since I've been staying up all week, so I think I'll shower and head to bed. (Ohh, it's gonna be lovely sleeping in tomorrow.)
