Back during 2017, while on a trip with T & B to NYC, T introduced me to the
Universal Paperclips game. I started playing it on my iPad while on the Amtrak train to NYC, and it kept me entranced for the entire train ride and into the night.
Yesterday with my laptop broken and only my iPhone to amuse me on my plane ride back from Portland, I reviewed all the old apps that I'd ever purchased via Apple's App Store for a game to play, and saw Universal Paperclips, so I downloaded it and started it again.
I just now finished it. It was a good mind cleanser, even though I remembered most of the twists. It is an example of the "incremental game" genre, also known as a "clicker". Over the course of several hours you go from making paperclips by hand, to running a paperclip manufacturing company, to playing the stock market, fixing global warming, enslaving humanity, and conquering the universe. Hence the name, Universal Paperclips.
It doesn't have the replayability of Civ 5 because it follows the same general path each time, but it entertained me for a couple of days.
I'll try to find some other games to amuse me while my broken new laptop gets fixed.

But not tonight, I want to fall asleep a bit earlier than I did last night. Even though I'm not planning on commuting until next Wednesday. I want to run 3 miles in the morning!
