There was a weird clicking noise in the living room, but I couldn't place it, I probably spent 20 minutes trying to track it down, but it was coming from under the floor, so into the crawl space I went, with a flash light, wondering whether the floor was about to collapse, or whether I'd find a woodpecker down there, or something ... and it still took me a while to place it -- finally I saw the main water pipe vibrating --
Then, because I don't know much about plumbing, and this had never happened before, I was worried the water pipe was about to explode. I alerted Tod, who was just then waking from his nap.
He said to look it up on the Internet while he finished waking up. I saw a variety of possible causes, one said to open the water faucets until it went away. So I opened the kitchen faucet ...
Meanwhile, Tod got up and noticed the master bath toilet was making a weird noise. So he flushed it.
The combination of toilet flushing and faucet flushing made the noise stop.
So, the water pipes are not going to explode. I think it was probably Tod's toilet being stuck in a loop where it kept turning the water flow off and on several times per second.
I will try to relax now after my visions of the floor caving in or the water pipe exploding while I was in the crawl space.
