Thoughts on Super Junior's Kang In Involved in DUI

May 25, 2016 22:09

My favourite member in Super Junior is Kang In - I came to notice SJ only and solely because of him. I was attracted to his on-screen personality (in TV shows from 2005-2009). He appeared to be someone competitive, brave, tough and had a leader aura around him while being someone who cares for his members. He wasn't skinny like most other Korean idols and his eyes mesmerised me the most. In 2011, I chanced upon the Intimate Note episode which featured SJ and from then on, I became an elf. I came to know that he was involved in a fight and subsequentl, a DUI (driving under influence) accident in Sept and Oct 2009, which led to his hiatus and military enlistment in 2010. Everyone knew that SM had him enlisted early to hide from the public and to reflect. I waited for his 2012 comeback and he came back to becoming someone who is now quieter and of low profile. In time to come, he received acting and emcee opportunities and I could see that he was returning to how he was before and I had appreciated and liked it.

When I saw news that he was involved in yet another DUI incident after 7 years, I was shocked and exasperated beyond words. I thought he had learnt his lesson back then in 2009 and had reflected. Just like the previous time, he ran away from the place of incident. Thankfully, no one was injured; he crashed into a streetlight. I was heavily disappointed that he had not learn his lesson and it was clear that he did not even bother to think for his fellow groupmates and his own image. His future with SJ and SM now looks really, really bleak. While I am not going to look up to him anymore, I still hope the best for him and SJ.
