It's been a long time since I've made an entry and I didn't make one at the beginning of this year to commemorate my sudden interest in NEWS but here we are close to the end of 2022 and I thought, why not? LJ captured my happiest fandom days as an Arashi (Johnnys) fan so leaving some thoughts here for myself later down the road.
For a very long time, my only Johnnys interests was Arashi and I knew about the existence of the other groups but they were strictly "the others". Becoming a fan of NEWS this year has changed my perspective on a few things and it's been a very interesting experience. It's like suddenly realizing the younger half-brother of your best friend who is also the black sheep of the family is actually very attractive.
Honestly it's been many many years since I stumbled into the Johnnys fan space. Yet I haven't lost my passion for idols. Rather, entering the workforce and dealing with more rl stress alongside just physically getting older and worse health makes me appreciate idols even more, especially older idols in their 30's and 40's who are not only glittering but can spark energy and smiles and be role models for someone like me who still have insecurities as an adult. I'm so glad Johnnys idols can have such long careers because it's nice to grow alongside your idols.
Well turns out this post isn't about NEWS though and just a rambling about idols hahaha. Hopefully 2023 is a better year. But because of NEWS, 2022 didn't turn out to be a bad year.
