Why? Because the heels I'm going to wear tonight - which make me taller than Kisaru-kun, wheet-woo - have straps that rub terribly on my ankles. To correct this problem I've got gauze taped onto the backs of my ankles with medical tape. Thus far it seems to be working, though I'll probably have to adjust the patches of gauze before the night is through.
For those wondering exactly why I'm going to be wearing heels tonight (you should certainly know by now that heels are not normal footwear for me), allow me to inform you that my school's Baccalaureate service-thing is tonight, no I don't care if I misspelled it, and I'm required by general consensus (general consensus being one mother who isn't mine by the way) to wear a white skirt, white top, and white sandals. I'm semi-compromising by wearing my white pants topped by a white skirt (they both go down to my ankles, so you can't see my bandages) with one of my white shirts. I've also removed my black nail polish, as ordered. Hopefully I'll remember to take out my hoop earring, though that's most likely going to slip my mind since I'm so used to wearing the darn thing.
Clemy is getting ready to shed her skin. Her scales look very dull, which means that the outer layer is about to come off. I'm forcing her to sun at the moment, since otherwise she'd spend all her time beneath that box house of hers.
Since I just now realized I haven't written a word about the beach trip, I suppose I may as well tell everyone that I walked four miles, got a Line of Sunburn and a slight tan. More importantly the day we were to head home Mama and I went to the pet store where she bought Clemy.
I'd been telling Mama that Clemy needed a new cage, since she was longer than her old cage (she's over two feet long now) and it was thrice-broken anyway. Mama acknowledged this (several times, in fact) but we never did anything to correct it until I realized that her heating rock was broken too. I began pitching fits in an effort to get Clemy taken care of - snake or no there is no excuse for knowingly neglecting a pet, especially when it's within one's power to correct the problem.
So we went to the pet store and bought not only a new cage for her, but also a heating lamp (summers here tend to be very hot, so she won't really need a heating rock until winter) and three mice. I spent most of my time playing with the baby ferrets, who thought of my hand as a very large chew toy/scratching post. They were hilarious to watch, because they'd rear up and pounce.
Once home Adriana-chan and I set up Clemy's new cage, with Akachan helping run things back and forth, and I made a nocturnal box for the python to hide under. It turns out that pythons are mainly nocturnal, and like having somewhere dark to hide during the daylight hours. I almost (but not quite) regret making it for her, since she spends all her time under there and rarely ventures out. I have to take the box out to get her to sun at all.
Clemy was returned to my care early this month, I think. The first, perhaps? Muzukashii's expecting another baby, and Clemy's gotten large enough to pose a threat to Tsume-chan (my sister's firstborn). Added to that is the fact that Muzukashii simply doesn't have the time to really care for and interact with Clemy. Though I have several points of contention that I would love to argue out with her, she's just trying to get by as best she can and I am grateful for her being able to accept the fact that Clemy needed care beyond what she could give, and that she was willing to correct the problem by returning the python to me. It's quite heartening when you think about it, and hopefully it's a sign that in time my sister and I can become friends.
Last night was quite fun, because it was the cook out for the seniors that my aunt and uncle hosted. When we first got there we found that there was a bat napping on the front porch, and I got everyone to gawk at it. It was cool! After that I changed into my bathing suit and, after waiting long enough to greet Kisaru-kun and Kiry before hopping into the pool to swim with my siblings and cousins.
Burandi-san and her parents, Muzukashii and a friend of hers, Kirisuten, and Kisaru-kun's parents came as well. Burandi-san declined swimming, and Kiry was stymied by the fact that she hadn't brought her bathing suit, as per what she'd heard about there not being any swimming. Kisaru-kun had brought his, but said he'd wait until after he'd eaten to swim. Myself, my siblings and my cousins all ragged on him about it, but he steadfastly refused to join the fun. Spoilsport.
After a while we all got out of the pool to eat (there had been bubbles before that, courtesy of myself and my lovely aunt) and I went walking for a little while with Kisaru-kun and my cousin Oshaberiya (translation: chatterbox. Trust me when I say it fits), who is hilarious simply because he's more ADD than I've ever been! I love my cousins.
Once everyone had eaten I rallied the troops (i.e., my cousins) and we all sallied forth to again conquer the pool. This time Kisaru-kun came along with us, and my cousins and siblings both demanded that he launch them off his shoulders into the deep end of the pool. Pretty much all he heard was, "One more time!" I laughed at his misery.
The real surprise came when Kiry walked to the little waterfall/dive point and jumped into the pool fully clothed. I guess we were having so much fun that she just couldn't stay away any longer! Needless to say I applauded her for being willing to do such a thing - Heaven knows I wouldn't've!
I went to church with Sensei-chan today, and there were a pair of guys speaking. They were identical twins, and were just as ADD as I am! I told them that after the service. I loved hearing them speak - they were really funny, and they could play guitar and sing both at the same time.
Tonight, however, is Baccaulaureate. Nowhere near as much fun as the party was. Am I allowed to skip? /_\
Oddly enough I still miss Kaiser-boy. I guess I was more accustomed to his presence than I thought. I'll have to write an entry about him, and all those little quirks of his. Maybe I'll write about Thomas too. Such sweet boys....
