Can anybody here make a suggestion about where to buy a used car? I'm on craiglist everyday...my success so far has been dubious at best. The first one I went to see after being assured it was GREAT had a cracked windshield and no passenger seat. The second was GREAT and would NOT GO INTO reverse. The third was GREAT and had 309,000 miles on it. Three Hundred and Nine Thousand Miles.

I know I don't have lot to throw at this ($1700), but for the love of God...All I want is a minivan or SUV, or Bronco or Cherokee, that's big enough to haul me, some of my things, and my kitties out of state, where I'll need it as a personal vehicle for a couple of months till I can unload it for something more economical. I have money set aside for inspection, registration, insurance and maintenance (oil, belts, hoses, maybe tires), but that's it. That's all.

I expect it'll have high miles, maybe some cosmetic issues, maybe be balls on gas mileage. What I ALSO EXPECT is that it have a title, be able to pass state inspection (even if I have to do a little work to get it there) and not be ready to blow up the minute I pass the state line.

Does anybody have ideas? I've bought the Auto Trader, been on KC's classified, BackPages, the Pitch, and Craigslist.
