Title: Fireworks
Pairing: Akito/Junta (B.A.D.)
Rating: PG
Note: Akito's message in Wink Up is actually real...these two are so married
Junta looked at the April issue of Wink Up lying open on his bed. Usually he didn’t bother to read the magazines, however he had been bored while waiting in the studio and had been flipping through it. In his haste to gather his things after his shoot was over, he had accidentally taken the magazine home with him. He had been flipping through it again when he saw the message board area, and was surprised to see a message to him from Akito.
To Junta-kun - I love you! (blushes)
Junta stared at the words, running his fingers lightly over the message. He didn’t know when he had developed feelings for the carefree boy who was his partner in B.A.D., but over the course of the years he had come to accept that he had less than pure thoughts concerning the younger boy. It wasn’t that he was gay, he just felt an attraction towards Akito that no other guy or girl could match.
Picking up his cell phone he scrolled through his phone book until he came upon Akito’s name. Pushing send he waited for the other boy to pick up.
“Hello? Junta? What’s up? Ohhh, I was just trying a new sauce for hamburger! It’s really delicious, but I think I put too much garlic in it.” Akito rambled.
Junta took a deep breath and willed his heart to stop beating fast, “Akito….I saw your message in Wink Up. You need to stop saying stuff like that.”
“Huh? Why? Why can’t I say that?” the younger boy sounded confused.
“Because you shouldn’t say things like that. You’re not a kid anymore. If you say stuff like that all the time it might get you in trouble someday.” Junta replied.
“How can I get in trouble?” Akito said, still sounding confused.
“I know you really well, so I know you’re not serious. But other people might think you’re serious if you say those words, so just be careful.” Junta hoped that would bring an end to the discussion.
But of course Akito always surprised him.
“Well, you must not really know me that well then, because…..I meant them. Those words. I really meant them.” Akito’s voice sounded serious, more serious than Junta could remember hearing in the four years he had been together with Akito.
“Akito….” Junta didn’t know what to say. He knew Akito couldn’t really mean that he loved him. There was just no way.
“Junta, are you at home now? I’m coming over.” Before Junta could reply, Akito had hung up. Still sitting on his bed and staring at the message, he tried to calm his heart. There was no way Akito was serious, he just meant it in the member-ai way. Junta had almost completely convinced himself that there was no way Akito could possibly mean the words in the way he wanted him to mean them when his door bell rang. His mother answered the door and he heard the thump, thump, thump of Akito running to his room. There was a quick knock and then Akito was coming inside Junta’s room, closing the door behind him.
“This isn’t the way it’s supposed to happen.” Akito let out in a rush, staring at Junta as he sat on his bed and stared at Akito with wide eyes. “You were supposed to read the message and come running to my house and say ‘I love you too, Akito!’ or maybe be too shy and write a message back to me in next month’s Wink Up and say ‘Akito, I love you too! Let’s work hard together from now on!’ because, well, it has to seem work related right? You’re not supposed to call me and be stupid and make me run here! There should be flowers and sparkles! And you shouldn’t tell me not to tell you I love you Junta, because I really, really love you!” Akito let his shoulders sag and tried to catch his breath after his long speech.
Junta’s mind tried to process what Akito had said, specifically the part where he had said he loved Junta, but his mind kept going back to the flower and sparkles thing.
“Akito, you do realize we don’t live in a shoujo manga, right?” Junta couldn’t keep the smile off his face as he watched Akito smile shyly at him. Junta held his hand out to Akito, who walked slowly and unsurely towards Junta. When Akito got close though, Junta took Akito’s hand and pulled him to sit next to Junta on his bed, still unable to keep the huge smile off his face. “Akito, I love you, too.”
Slowly the boys leaned towards each other until their lips met. As they kissed there weren’t flowers or sparkles, but there were fireworks, and Akito was glad they didn’t live in a shojo manga, because while flowers or sparkles might have been nice, fireworks were amazing.
