I think it might be better for me to explore the possibilities of working with other people some. Just because there's no knowing when something might go wrong or the group get split up, and I'm too used to relying on Raikou-san.
[The words are said sort of to the group, but he smiles at Raikou as he says them, almost an apology. At least on the surface... though in actuality, his and Raikou's taking different teams is preplanned and for other tactical purposes.]

It’s alright. [He’s reassuring, smiling and looking a bit old for his age. He’s a bit apprehensive about this as well, though.] We’re all learning this together, right?
[Allen certainly hopes so. Another grin; he does that a lot with strangers in particular.]

Mmhmm. I've hunted a little since I've been here, but I'll admit...my kills were fairly clumsy.
[He frowns, because a clumsy kill means suffering, and human or animal, he'd prefer not to create any. There's blood on his hands, yes, but he's always done his best not to cause suffering.]
I'm surprised you're not sick of me already, though, considering yesterday. [He winks, smiles a little brighter, taking a page from Raikou's book.]

I’ve had done hunting in a sense…
[He’s shuddering to his bones and probably recalling something horrid with master Cross. Memories like that bring a horrible pang of regret now, though, and he quickly pushes aside the childhood memory.]
It didn’t end well.
[Everyone should probably leave it at that. His grimaced expression would indicate such.]
Eh? Why would I be sick of you? [Allen kind of gets the humor of the wink as he says that, but he still has a nervous grin; it’s a bit of an odd statement to have pointed out in his opinion. But he really isn’t tired of seeing the other boy. Gau’s one of the most stable points in this new world he’s encountered. Friends are friends and will look out for each other, right?]

I see.
[He laughs and wrinkles his nose a little.]
Just though the scene might have put you off. My partner is... a jerk, sometimes. [Even as he says it, he glances toward Raikou, and there's a soft smile on his lips.]
Anyway, we'll have fun today, won't we?

[Allen shrugs a bit, feeling a bit the Victorian-era British gentleman he was raised to be but very understanding of just about anything anyway.
Mostly.]
Don’t worry about it. It wasn’t a problem or anything. He was just… concerned?
[Maybe. There’s a sudden, quick nod and grin for Gau’s sake. He can change his masks in an instant when he tries.]
I hope so. [Brutal murdering of animals isn’t high on his list of fun.] It will be interesting at least?

[He doesn't blush this time, because it's a simple statement, and seems true.]
It should be. And it's a necessary survival skill, unless we're all going to become vegetarians. And I have to be able to feed Yoite-kun... which is never easy.

Yeah. …And being vegetarian then wouldn't work out so well.
[Grimace. Allen’s mostly a carnivore himself and certainly voracious, but hunting his own food despite the ability and some experience to do so isn't something easily envisioned. Oooh, and Yoite is someone with a large appetite as well? This will be something to inadvertently bond over.]
We’ll figure it out, I guess.
[Allen gives a thumbs-up, more confident than he feels. It’s like putting on act for all comers even as he tricks himself into the mood.]
Just a step at a time, right?
