--say what? The statement was so completely incongruous, so obviously incorrect, that Kisame offered his partner a good-naturedly humorous, quite incredulous smile; the grin faltered, awkward and uncertain, as it became apparent that Itachi was actually quite serious. After all, since when had Itachi ever been the joking sort, especially about something like this? It just wasn't like him; it wouldn't make sense. He had no choice but to believe that Itachi believed himself, and so take his words at face value.... which was patently ridiculous. He would have known what had happened for three months if it had actually been that long since then.
.......Right?
Kisame made an effort to push aside his confusion, raising an eyebrow instead to give Itachi an odd look; by now, the smile had disappeared. "We finished the extraction the night before we got here, Itachi-san." What was he talking about?
