Summary: Harry is finally getting around to setting up his wards. Curious about what he's doing?
With all of the supplies finally purchased and his room in relatively good shape, Harry was ready to get the wards set up on his door. While the threshold on his apartment hadn't been anything to rejoice over, it was at least better than what he had at the ryokan. It left him with very few options that wouldn't require reworking every morning. Not wanting to do that, Harry had spent quite a lot of time thinking about how to keep unwanted people or, more importantly, things out of his room. What he'd finally come up with work work well enough.
The door to his room was open as he started setting up everything. The curious would find him standing on a chair attaching a rope and bucket to his ceiling. It had taken a lot of trial and error with water to get the contraption right, but once it was set he had no worries about putting the real bucket he'd purchased a few days ago up. That settled, Harry went to work on the connecting pieces which were mostly in place already. The set up was definitely not magical, but it would work.
The thin metal bar that stuck out past his door frame on the inside could only be moved from the inside. Unless, of course, the person coming in was Harry. He would be able to use his magic to shift the bar aside, preventing the trap from activating. If anyone tried to force their way in, the sharp edge of the metal bar would cut the rope holding the bucket of extra sticky goo above the door. Just like the old trick of a bucket of water falling on someone's head, this would would work the same way. Only the offending person wouldn't end up wet, they'd be stuck in place.
Nodding to himself, Harry went on to part number two of his wards. This one was much smaller, but more magical.
