Tobias was back, and Matt guessed this would be when he found out if he really had what it took for this whole parent thing.
Elfangor understood a lot, but Matt didn't think he really got the feeling from the dream. Maybe Matt was the only one here who really knew what it felt like to be shuffled around like Tobias was. To know your need to belong somewhere, with someone, no matter what it might cost you, was always battling it out with the distrust of it hard experience had taught you. Matt knew what it was to run away from something you'd wanted so badly, because no matter how many kinds of fucked-up it was to feel bailing out was less scary than hope, he'd felt it.
He pushed his goggles back up into their usual spot on his forehead, and went and knocked on Tobias's door.
"Hey. You wanna talk?"
