Warnings: probably none, Kanda's not as prone to swearing as usually but it might happen?
Summary: after cooping up in his room for a few days trying to deal with everything he just learned, Kanda decides to re-emerge and try to accept this second (third?) chance at life he has been given. Maybe learning a few survival skills could be a good start?..

~

It had been four full days since Kanda had discovered he had, in fact, completed the wish of his life. It had left him strangely empty, somehow. Alma was dead, and it was all over. Yet he was there, and he was here, and nothing around changed. Almost as if fate had decided it wasn't time for him yet - while, technically, it has been time for what felt like over thirty years. But here he was.

He just wanted to think it over and try to find at least the slightest bit of sense.

And that's what he did, locking himself in for peace and quiet and not coming out for two days until Lenalee broke in and dragged him off to eat, also giving him a good eartwist for not taking good care of himself. And that was when he realized that maybe, just maybe, this whole surviving the closure thing had to do with the life he had gotten as 'Yu Kanda' and the people around. It wasn't that bad, after all. They were alright. He just didn't feel particularly in his place anymore, but maybe... it would get better.

And today, he had decided that if he was going to try and embrace this new living thing, at least for the time being, he might as well stop being so focused on only his work and looking for her, what didn't have any purpose anymore - well, the second part, at least. But it had been his one motivation for so long, it was a little difficult. Still, he supposed he'll have to find something to occupy himself with while he remains alive and doesn't have things he has to do unlike back home, and... Well, considering his regeneration isn't endless, he might as well try to learn some more useful 'human' things.

Such as making food other than soba.

He was quite sure Lenalee or Lavi would be more than okay with it, even if he had no idea how the hell to bring it up, and so he stalked to the kitchen. It was the time of day when even Lavi normally got out of bed already and went to do his slave-- er, chores. Like making breakfast. So there was a good chance he'd be there.

Kanda stopped just outside the kitchen, frowning, and carefully peeked in from behind the doorframe, almost in a cautious way despite the fact that he looked quite offended by the mere existence of the room. Sure enough, Lavi was there, making... whatever can be made from what looked like bread, butter, ham, cheese and cucumbers. Kanda narrowed his gaze a little and continued watching the scene with the precision of a predator, however not leaving his spot in the doorway, almost as if appearing interested in whatever was happening was supposed to be an insult of some sort.

He just didn't want to start talking or anything.

But hey, then there was hoping that Lavi would magically sense the intense staring at his back and just assume Kanda was suddenly interested in what he was doing for some reason. Maybe.

lavi, yu kanda
