Summary: A sort-of Nabari housewarming reunion.
This place is absolutely infuriating. The whole idea that one has to pay for anything at all when they're brought here against their will is just mind boggling to say the least. It's not like they're criminals or anything, locked up because they did something bad and deserved to work on a chain gang for meager wages.
(Actually...this might not be entirely true. Yukimi is not a model citizen in the most traditional sense of the word. Ninjas aren't quite what they seem, after all. But still. He's never actually been caught or arrested or anything, even if his side-dealings haven't been 100% legal...)
All this is beside the point. Yukimi has worked his entire life, so it's not a matter of laziness. It's more about free will and doing what he wants to do, and making choices that he believes in. What he was about to do back home was exactly that. It's frustrating to have to take a backward step again, to a place where his will is not his own.
But he's the responsible sort, and adaptable when he needs to be. With the free lodging at Mizusato about to expire and two kids to put a roof over, Yukimi grudgingly paid the necessary tribute to procure a small set of rooms in Hisato.
It's been about three days since their move, and already the place is beginning to resemble Yukimi's apartment back home on one of its more cluttered days, with clothes strewn in every place except the hamper, half empty cups and used plates and chopsticks on the floor, and papers all over. Except the papers look more haphazard than usual because there are no sticky notes here, leaving only loose sheets flapping around in every corner.
It's mid-afternoon, and Yukimi puts a pot over the wood-burning stove to make tea.
"Oi, we have any clean cups in here?" he calls out over his shoulder.
