[But now that Renji's waking up more fully now, he's starting to notice things that are...off about the current situation.
He's in a bed. Ever since Hisana arrived, Renji hasn't been able to sleep in a bed of his own. Even after she was gone, that room was still off-limits to him.
He's not in the kitchen where he went to bed, that's for sure, but how did he get--
--Renji shifts in the bed, and is greeted with his second surprise of the morning:
Black. His hair is black, rather than red.
He practically falls out of bed going to check his appearance in the bathroom. He does...not like what he finds. Not one bit.
Byakuya. He's in Byakuya's body.
A little panicked, he grabs the Hitomi and practically shouts into it.]

[ He did not need to be awakened by anything. By the end of that, he was already awake, those emotions that were running high exchanged for something much less understandable, but nearly as upsetting.
He cannot recall when he went to sleep. He barely recalls the dream he just had, only the feelings of desperation, snippets, things he remembers from Renji. It's hard to tell, sometimes, what this all is. But he sets aside his memory, usually so sharp, now clouded, and stares at a hand much bigger, much darker than his own. It's almost clumsy as he flexes them, being certain they are connected to this mind, that it is truly his will that manipulates them.
He recognizes where he is, so he hasn't gone from his home. Perhaps it is all simply a dream, like one of those dreams in a dream, an endless cycle, furthering nightmares and torment. In this land of dreams, Byakuya would not be surprised. It enjoys trapping them in their minds, using these things called emotions to bend them to a will they cannot understand.
That is not to say Byakuya is not surprised. His expression, however, probably does not come close to even expressing his shock. It's not just a hand. It's red hair, it's skin that's been inked, it's a body structure completely different than his own. If he had his way, he would be hunting down the one responsible and ensuring they do not rest until this is repaired. But as men become women, adults become children, people fall in love with each other, he knows very well that demanding one of them to fix this would be as pointless as it is finding a way to return. ]

[He has a bit of a headache already--he doesn't need to hear his voice yelling at him...
His voice. He stops his the inspection of his battle-worn fingers to stare in the direction that voice came from. He is sleeping. He must be. And this is all some game, something strange his mind came up with, his subconscious, for putting Renji down, for being horrible to him after his revival. That is surely foolish though. No such thing. He doesn't feel bad for it. Renji deserves every ounce of disdain he delivers him.
Perhaps, of course, if he rolled over, attempted to go back to sleep, this 'dream' would end and he would be sitting in his room once more, staring at that place where she was and be left alone to wonder why. Yes, it must be some sort of nightmare.]
Don't yell. [He's responded. Can he go back to sleep now? He would like to sleep.]
Okay, Renji knew his captain could take just about anything with a straight face, but this was a bit ridiculous. Sure, this was Kannagara, so "how did this happen" isn't exactly the question at the front of his mind (though, a few choice words are, and he's glad that the Hitomi can't capture his thoughts while he's awake). More like, what the hell were they going to do about it? Avoid everyone until it blew over? But with the Hitomi and all the recent business with the locals, that would be difficult at best and impossible at worst.]
This ain't freakin' ya out at all?
[Yes, enjoy hearing that coarse way of speaking on your voice, Byakuya.]
[How horrible. It's terrible, hearing such words, such a common way to speak, used in his voice. This isn't a dream, one of those lessons or some such nonsense. It's a nightmare. Some alternate world where he was not taught to speak properly. He does not say 'ain't' and he will never say 'freakin'. Or place unnecessary emphasis on a word. His parents must be rolling in their graves at this.
He, himself, would like to roll over in bed and hope that, by some miracle, this hallucination or whatever it may be would be over by then. Despite this experience of being out of his body, Byakuya can't bring himself to disregard all that he's been taught to do. That is not appropriate behavior.
It is also very strange to be staring at the Hitomi and his face is there... and he knows these words being spoken are not ones he knows he's said himself. His language. It's deplorable. Did he say that yet?]
It would serve no purpose.
[He's a bit grumpy. Byakuya has never woken up in a kitchen before. It is not the most comfortable of places.]
Perhaps you've forgotten that Rukia still sleeps within these walls. Conduct yourself properly. [Yes, Renji. Enjoy hearing words properly spoken in your voice.]
