[Lavi is actually asleep when this dream occurs, which has been a rare thing for a while but now he's mostly back to his usual sleep-schedule, and without all that much trouble. So he's sleeping soundly, until Yu screams.
It takes a brief moment for that fact to register, but as soon as it does, he sits up, gaze darting wildly from one part of the room to another. And then he shakes out of the tangle that is his quilt and scrambles to his feet, taking off at a sprint out of his room and towards Yu's, limbs still somewhat effected by sleep so he nearly stumbles but manages to stay up, and heart beating in his ears and his teeth automatically moving to bite his lip. Why the hell is Yu screaming?
Well. A dream, obviously?
And he skids into Yu's room, and practically tumbles down to shake him.]
[Kanda doesn't seem to react to him at all, though he's silenced before Lavi actually got to him. Now he's just gritting his teeth and biting his lips to blood, breathing haltingly in a way that makes it sound like hissing, his eyes still widened, generally making his expression look somewhat insane-ish. And he's still curled into a ball face down'; the only movement he makes after Lavi shakes him is his hands clenching more tightly. It's a surprise he haven't actually ripped his hair out yet.]
[Lavi stares for a moment, gears turning rapidly in his mind as he tries to work out what to do. This is new. This is... completely new. He has never been around someone who's been acting like this and feeling like he has to do something and... what the hell do you do when it happens?
...well, most people would probably think a person like this is possessed by the devil and call in an exorcist or something. An actual exorcist, that is. Or lock them up in a madhouse. They would be seen as hopeless immediately.]
Yu, come on. This is creepy.
[He waves his hands a bit helplessly in the air, before he moves them to try and pull Yu up into a sitting position.]
[Kanda's teeth bares in a grimace. He's finally starting to register what's happening around and, luckily, that's enough to prevent tears from forming, but that doesn't change the fact his brain feels like it's being ripped into a billion tiny shreds with a spoon or something even blunter; it fucking HURTS and even though he's used to handling pain, this is a bit too much because there's also the.. psychological part.]
[He does manage to hiss out, even though somewhat weakly;]
Can't.
[He lets Lavi pull him up at first, but the next moment he growls, pulls himself out of the redhead's grip and is down again, pressing his forehead into the floor and still gripping his head as if trying to dig his fingers into it or just squash it by himself.]
[The visions are still flashing in front of his eyes, but it's not as clear anymore, and he could sort of see the surroundings, but that doesn't help much at all at the moment.]
[Lavi's shocked when Yu pushes him away and goes back to curl against the floor, and is stuck just staring for another moment, once again struggling to figure out what to do. Does he try it again? Does he uh... hug Yu or something? He has never done something like that in a situation like this before so the idea is a bit strange but then...
Then again, this is also the first time he has ever been around when anything like this has happened.
He bites his lip for a moment, and reaches for Yu again.]
Yes you can, you always can.
[You're supposed to be the strong one, damn it!
He grits his teeth and pulls Yu back up, and this time he really locks his arms around the swordsman, not intending to let go because it's... better this way. Better because he doesn't have to see Yu lying like that on the floor... Well, doesn't have to see him at all and that's easier and hopefully this will help?
[Kanda's breathing remains just as loud, but this time he's not moving anymore, and it seems to even out just a little bit.]
[That's right, he can. He's been through worse and always got out of it. This is just a little painful, and it will soon be gone. Just.. try to calm down, yeah. Lavi's voice seems to help, but as he silences again it's harder.]
[He remains still, his expression still fixed somewhere between horrified and angry, but it's not giving out that much of crazy vibes anymore. He can hear Lavi's heartbeat like this and he realizes he's alive.]
[And then the clenching fright starts to back off, bit by bit, but it doesn't really show just yet. Except that, maybe, he's gotten calmer.]
[Lavi stays still, considers wagging a little and saying that "it's okay" or some stupid shit like that, but he doesn't because this already is too much and strange and not something they usually do, definitely not. And yet it doesn't really feel strange or... abnormal, not really. It feels like it should but... it doesn't.
He tilts his head forward and squeezes his eyes shut, tightening his grip a little on Yu. Maybe his nose kind of ends up buried in the cloth of Yu's shoulder, but he doesn't quite notice (except that it kind of smells good somehow).
It feels like Yu's a little less tense, which is good.
[Yes, it's warm. And it's soothing, somehow. Even if it's unusual.]
[Kanda listens to that heartbeat, revelling in his discovery that this world must in fact be real because Lavi is alive, until he realizes there's one within him as well, so he's alive too, alive, not simply a senseless machine like the dream had insisted. That's.. reassuring.]
[He focuses on his breathing, which is still halting and loud, trying to calm it. Inhale - exhale. He listens to Lavi's breathing as well, and tries to mimick it because it seems steady and safe. Yeah, that might just work. Slower. Good.]
[He finally stops trembling, and his expression is slowly starting to blanken. He can gather himself together. He always can. Even Lavi said that, and he only knows a little of it. Yeah. Everything is fine.]
[Once Yu starts calming down, Lavi raises his head and finally dares look at him again. It's just so very weird to see him falling apart, because in Lavi's world Yu is one of those people who just don't, even if he knows by now that he's... probably unstable.
But that doesn't make it any easier to watch, at all. It kind of makes him feel like everything is going to fall apart too, him included. Like if Yu falls apart nothing else can stay intact, and this is stupid but... He can't help it.
But Yu... will always pick himself back up. Always. It has to be that way.]

[He's not sure if he intented to say that or not, but there it is.]
[That definitely is an interesting pillar to support your world, Lavi. But even.. unstable people can be strong, right? Maybe that's what matters.]
[Kanda finally manages to completely persuade himself it's not the nightmare anymore, and surely, the presence that could be imagined as a soft, warm tuft of colours is definitely helping with that.]
[Just after a few moments, he finally registers what's happening around, including Lavi, and how he must have been acting, and frowns, trying to straighten up because shit, Kanda fucking Yu does not whimper on the floor like a kicked puppy just because he had some stupid dream.]

[His tone sounds almost normal now, and it's kind of ridiculous how he just suddenly tries to pretend everything that happened moments ago doesn't exist. He actually manages to stand on his knees, but his mind still feels dizzy and unclear, so he hisses and hangs on Lavi again, swearing silently.]
[Why the hell do the hallucinations affect him physically, anyway? It sucks to be him, yeah.]
[Lavi feels insanely relieved when Yu talks and then moves to stand up, and even if he doesn't manage to stay up it's still a great relief, so his lips twitch into a bit of a smile as he moves his arms to support Yu a little.]
[Kanda doesn't seem pleased, but he feels some sort of relief, as well. It's as if the cold, hard hand clenching his brain has finally backed off a bit.]
[So for the moment he stays in the same position, but still retorts,]

[Lavi has to snicker at the retort, but it's a very good thing. It confirms that Yu's at least not completely losing it or something. He feels that he can relax a little, so he does, and resists the urge to lean slightly against Yu because, damn, that was scary but he's not the one who needs support right now.
