HEAPPY NEW YEARRRR 2008 was about the same as 2007 or 2006, which is to say that it was okay I guess. 2009 will probably be similar, although different enough because halfway through it I will be forcefully ejected into the Real World.
For New Year's Eve I went with lunarwhirlwind and Ricky to a certain Mr. Rob Lantz and company's house for a crazy party, where ( Read more... )

That's because SCAD is actually a shitty college for comics or drawing or anything not done on autocad or in Photoshop, but it's really good at boosting student egos, so everybody from there either learned nothing and now sucks monkey dick while thinking "I'm fucking AWESOME" or they know they learned nothing and suck monkey dick and have already read that book to try and improve. Sadly, those who are aware that SCAD is a load of crap and that they got nothing useful out of being there are in the vast minority.

Talking to SCAD students with talent has convinced me that I am glad I never went there.

Reading this makes me kinda glad I was only there for a quarter. :$

And honestly, what comics program still has you in fucking foundation drawing classes and COLOR THEORY at the start of sophomore year, seriously.

Probably, but I took one of those at community college (isn't it obvious given how eloquent I am), so I dodged that bullet.

They only do three classes a quarter and each class is FIVE CREDITS. I had Drawing 2, Color Theory, and History of Sequential Art. And this was SOPHOMORE curriculum.

...what took you so long to take those classes? I took Color Theory and Drawing II my second quarter at SCAD.

Did you fail to notice they have three quarters per normal year, and four if you take summer classes? Most schools go on semesters, meaning it evens out more or less.

I was a transfer student so I guess I was taking stuff to make up for whatever foundation year credits I missed

Sorry if I sound bitter or something, in retrospect I was in a sorta bad mood when I wrote the comment, but in actuality I liked the campus environment down there but it was so danged boring to me that I couldn't take it :(
