Very slow day at work today. Work that I'd be working on till 3 in the afternoon was done by 11:30. This afternoon will DRAG...
Finally got my Property Tax statement in the mail last night. Allow me to explain:
I've been using TurboTax to do my taxes this year. When I was going through it they asked if I wanted to fill out my M1PR, which, to those outside of Minnesota, is a Property Tax refund thing. If you rent property, you can get a refund depending on how much you made v. how much you spent on rent, and if you own it's how much you make v. how much you spend on taxes. It's an optional tax form that doesn't have to be completed at the same time as your other taxes. But, just to see how it was looking, I checked the box, only to realize that I didn't have the necessary paperwork, which would be mailed in mid-March.
So I go back, attempt to uncheck the box only to have them say "hey, you can't uncheck that! We're going to send you to the first M1PR screen anyway!" It was a glitch in the system, and the TurboTax folks basically said "I'd just wait till your form gets in."
Leaving me with two options: either start over from the beginning, or wait for the form.
Well, the form arrived last night.
And I don't qualify.
*headdesk*
I could have my tax refund, which is a HEFTY chunk (not saying the specifics, but it's in quadruple digits) a month ago. But, no, I had to wait for this form, which shows that, since I only owned the property for 10 months last year, I didn't pay enough property tax to qualify for a refund.
Ah, well. Taxes are filed, and that's out of the way. I'm buying myself a friggin' bike when I get the money.
