"Battletoads Turbo Tunnel - James & Mike Mondays"

Watching this video brought back somewhat traumatic memories for me of playing Battletoads in Ragnarok's World for the Game Boy, which was a (supposedly easier) port of the NES game (which I've never played myself). I remember that damned Turbo Tunnel. It was hella hard, even on the Game Boy. With that said, though, I remember that freaking tower being harder than the Turbo Tunnel, because the controls are way more slippery than that video may make them look. That guy's just super good, I guess, that's all. And the NES version has levels that the Game Boy version lacked. I certainly don't remember that surfing level they played for a few seconds being in the GB version, for instance.

But if you want to see a truly hella hard Game Boy game that is hard more for the lag/slowdown and the incredibly poor, finicky controls, though, take a look at Castlevania: The Adventure. Still, even so, I played the hell out of that game as a kid, enough so that I could finish it without taking a single hit, let alone dying. The moving ceiling/floor/wall level of that game (as well as this crap in the final level) was my Turbo Tunnel for the longest time. (One trick the LPer there didn't seem to know about, though, was that if you walked off the platforms a certain way, that is if you stopped moving forward at the exact moment you reached the edge, you would fall straight down instead of at an angle, which was very useful for shaving off precious half-seconds in that moving spike deathtrap level, as well as for better positioning during the final boss fight against Dracula.) Spikes in this game, unlike in the far superior sequel, were insta-kills even from full life.

Man, I really need to get more back into just talking about games and such like this, rather than all the ranting about shit that I usually do. :/
