The Prepuce a.k.a Foreskin and it’s reason for being

This is a touchy subject for anyone who is pregnant and expecting a boy child. Today in the US about 56.1% of all boy children are circumcised in the U.S. most of them just days after they are born. The American Academy of Pediatrics has this to say on circumcision, “Existing scientific evidence demonstrates potential medical benefits of newborn male circumcision; however, these data are not sufficient to recommend routine neonatal circumcision.”.

No matter what you think on this delicate subject, there is an important video that every expectant parent should watch before making their final decision. We are led to believe or outright taught these days that the foreskin, or prepuce, has no function. That it is an evolutionary hangover, but we would be mistaken. It actually does have more uses than just protecting the head of the glans. And while there is still much debate over whether a man that is circumcised is more likely to catch STDs, the more recent studies are saying ‘Not enough to warrant it being routine’ (see above quote from ACOG). So without further ado here is a video, that is about 20 minutes long, that goes into great detail about the foreskin and its roll in male sexuality and health. It may be a bit boring for some, but a lot of the most valuable information is at the very end after the quick anatomy primer.
