the weekend (starting with saturday) kicked off in a very depressing way. my dad e-mailed me with the news of Wolf. What's funny is I was just talking about him the day before to co-workers regarding his philosophies on tattoos and people's names. Although I never learned anything academic in his classes (sean sullivan and i always cheated off of each other - and i think i still got a better grade than him), I learned a lot about life and weird things I may never have known otherwise. I guess I did learn some academic things... I have a working knowledge of interesting practices of aboriginal tribes. As well as how to avoid contracting crabs in european youth hostiles (which I was able to do and kept Wolf in my mind that entire time).
so after some tears and some reminiscing, i buired my sorrows in cake tasting at torrance bakery. our top tier is lemon with lemon merangue filling, the middle tier is carrot cake with pineapple filling, and the bottom tier is marble cake with fudge filling. The frosting will all be cream cheese. The cake will be 3 square tiers, with frosting pearls.
then christian and I ordered the plane tickets for the honeymoon, i bought my lavender wedding chucks, we ordered the cake topper, and a few other little things.
then it came time for the rings. They are yellow gold with a fern scroll and two plumerias. Mine was 1/2 as much as Chrisitan, possibly because mine was only 4mm and his was 8mm. I had to talk him out of the 10mm, which was gigantic.
we also registered at crate and barrel and target....
and then we went to the Maria Taylor show at the Echo.
While there, the wonderful Jenny Lewis appeared to watch. So, instead of leaving her alone like good fans, we passed her another note. This one said "ARE YOU COMING TO OUR WEDDING?" and had three check boxes: YES, NO, MAYBE?, proceeded by date, names, and e-mail address. We didn't expect her to, but she actually replied! She made her own box, which said "i wish i could but i'll be in europe". and came back and handed it to me. i was amazed and touched. how cute was that?
i just hope she doesn't think i'm a stalker, or crazy. but we won't bother her anymore. jsut admire her from afar.
Yesterday was filled with good and bad. i'll disregard the bad.
so Christian threw his mom a surprise birthday party yesterday. His brother and sister-in-law were supposed to come early to get her out of the house, but they hadn't showon up by 2, so Christian called me and said I needed to come over and get her out ASAP (i was the back up plan). So my sister and I rushed down. By the time we got there, his brother and his family had arrvied, but we figured we'd stick with our plan. HIs mom kept trying to go out and buy food for all the kids, and we were trying to dissuade her. So, to get her out of the house, I asked her if she'd go to Crate & Barrel with me to register, saying that Christian was tired of registering with me and doing wedding things and we were tired of arguing. So she complied, and we took along grandma and Tina making it a girl's outing. I totally had to stall at Crate & Barrel, that way she hopefulyl wouldn't go to the market. I turned what she thought was going to be a 30 minute trip into over an hour. then we all had a hell of a time convincing her she didn't need to go buy food for the kids. when we were pulling up to the house, david, alicia, and kalani were walking up, and we were all trying to play it off like it was nothing. but it made her want to go buy more food before we even got the car parked. it was pretty funny. but once we got her in, all went well and she was definently surprised i think.
i am currently trying to work on the wedding invitations which feels way more stressful than it should. haha.
