Spain is coming together, it really is. Yesterday I was feeling so good about being here, I had spent the weekend in Salamanca with some kids from another program and when I came back I was happy to be home. Being in Salamanca I was in a college town with te university life and students, it was so different than Seville and I loved the atmosphere of the town. It reminded me of a small spanish Ann Arbor, but completely different. Still, I loved going to a Latin Bar one night, and a club the next and ust being able to dance and be with my new friends. They just don´t have some of that stuff here in Seville, its hard to get into a club and its all older people in upper 20s, or high school type students botelloning outside, I just haven´t found that crowd yet I guess. But in Salamanca they were right there, I would have loved to spend more time there and study there. I mean, we went to a cafe for hours just talking and hanging out, and I would see people come in with books, and just sit and study for an hour or two, or see people discussing their homework, OH MY GOSH! noone does that in Seville!! I mean, Leah did it the other day, haha, but she got some funny looks. You have to go to Starbucks with the rest of the <> students to do that type of stuff. But, however much I loved Salamanca, the city, the life, the people, when we were coming into the bus station at Seville, I was so happy to be home. I wanted to see Mercedes and make sure she was OK, bc when I called her daughter said she was sick, so I was really worried about her. And I wanted to see my friends from my program and be comfortable in my room. I wanted to make sure I was back to the university and get my homework done for my grammer class. All of this I wanted to be back for, and I felt like I really am getting it. Spain is coming together, it really is.
The next day, I went to all my classes, my notes were the best they´ve been, I wrote down an entire sentence in my polisci class, which is a HUGE step, and I asked someone in the class if I could borrow their notes to copy!! (That was HUGE, it is so nerve racking to approach someone in that class). I had a great lunch with Mercedes, rice with chicken, so good! and I was happy to see everyone again in the program. When I got to the center for grammer class I had two huge packages waiting for me. I opened them up immediately and of course started crying bc of all the wonderful things people sent me. Mom and dad, with their book, the cd (kanye west) I wanted, chocolates (which everyone ate in like two seconds) and the norah jones guitar book. such sentimental things, not just crap they put together. The card was gorgeous and they sent me a postcard of virginia, they are so great.
NICHE sent me so much stuff it was unbelieveable. Scotts picture of Del Taco was awesomely random, I have such a great brother. Hillary put together some socks and made me a jewelry case that is gorgeous, and sent a pic of her and scott that is so cute. I got my pic of andrew and carissa too. jeff and kim sent pics of them in little frames, a very cute little ducky purse, soem letter writing stuff, and a great new little journal, which i sgood bc mine is about to run out already! I also got cookies and pez and peeps, EWWW!! i let everyone eat those... The best part though was the picture Michael painted, and all of the letters everyone wrote. It was so nice to hear everyones voices in the letters and hear about what is going on in their lives. Jeff wrote me a three page letter that really touched the heart, I miss his sermons and it was great to get my own personal one. I´m so glad all of these people are in my lives and are able to share their love over an ocean. Basically, I went home completely content, there´s no other way to describe it.
I went to my guitar lesson, learned some flamenco, then ate dinner with Mercedes. I went to sleep listening to kanye west and reading all my letters. It was a great day, a great day in Spain
