On the topic of Ankh's arm...

So my friends and I are about to make some OOO-cosplay (Namely Ankh, Kazari, Gotou and Eiji (though our Eiji hasn't seen OOO yet and went all "Huh? Kikumaru Eiji?" :P)) and we were thinking...

Anyone who got any tips on how to make Ankh's arm? We want it to look as good as possible (of course). So while figuring out what materials to use, I thought ( Read more... )

Cool~ I actually planned on making Ankh's Arm too. Though haven't started yet due to self-procrastinating and me not finding other types of elbow length gloves that weren't made of silk/satin.

I've seen people use cardboards/or something like that tho it made the arm blocky like a gundam. And while I did considered those... plaster things... unh too fragile.

I think for the palm parts and the below arm part you can try using bits of leather/pva/or anything similar. Do you have access/knew places that cells jumping clays? Those should be good to use and not really as fragile as normal art clays. I actually considered using that. Tried it before when I made a head piece for my friend. Easy to use. And you can use clear sprays/paint sprays on it later to give it the shiny look.

That's about as far as what I had mused about my own prop. Gonna try getting to that after actually figuring out how to style my old wig for Ankh.

Thanks for the tips. :) I have no idea where to get pva in my area, to be honest. I mean, if I go into town, living in the middle of nowhere = you have to travel far to get to anything at all. OTL Haven't heard of jumping clay before. I've worked in normal cheramics clay and silk clay before though, but those wouldn't be any good at all. While silk clay can be sort of soft, it's pretty frail and gets a bit sticky when it gets wet ( ... )

thanks for the glove link.

Jumping clays are just like normal clays, just that when it dries it becomes sort of rubbery. Forgot another name for it... but at least end result won't be so fragile.

My friend has actually made one for her Ankh cosplay already. She made the base out of Liquid Latex, and the rest out of paper clay and something called "Friendly Plastic". Unfortunately, after the con the plastic melted in the car, so she's going to have to redo some bits. Also, the paper clay is very lightweight, but fragile. Someone ran into it at the con and cracked one of the wings.

If you're curious to see what it looks like, I have a pic here: http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1632911597618&set=a.1632904397438.69677.1681521727
