This weekend we took Killian in for her first real haircut. Meaning that the previous trims she'd gotten had been by my hand (yeah, the Mom Cut). We took her to
Chloe's Carousel, a place that Traci had recommended to me about a year ago.
The place has a little play area with a bunch of stuff for little kids, so they played for a bit while waiting for their turn.
Here's Little Miss Sassy before her appointment.
When it's your child's turn for their appointment, the first thing they're instructed to do is to pick a DVD or a video game. Each station is equipped with a DVD player and game console. Killi picked 'Snow White.'
Then she went to get her hair washed. She got a little princess figurine to distract her during the washing, but if you look at the next photo...
... clearly she understands the sheer bliss of laying prone without a care in the world while someone else washes your hair.
In the chair, the stylist did her thing while the girl watched her video. We just wanted a couple of inches trimmed and some light layering. Nothing too drastic.
The place does birthday parties too, and a gaggle of little girls were getting their fashion show on after having their hair done. Check out this bimbo on the runway. How on earth does a little girl know to pose like that? She's like, seven. And apparently a prostitute.
After the cut, they style the hair any way you want. Killi opted for princess braids.
And ribbon and flowers and glitter.
We decided to get Kieran's hair done while we were there too. He picked Indiana Jones on the Nintendo. He is very serious about this game. No time for love, Dr. Jones!
And then he got his hair washed too. The stylist asked if he'd like some colored styling gel in his hair (we were pushing for blue) but Kieran tends to be a little cautious, so he opted for the plain gel.
After their appointments, they had to go dork out and put on costumes and have lollipops.
All in all, the experience was really fun for them. And the prices are totally reasonable too. And we didn't know it before we walked in, but an old friend works there, so we'll be scheduling their cuts with her from now on. And the best part? There's this awesome Eastern European bistro a couple of doors down with a family vibe and great pierogi. And I just had to bring this home.
