Rating: R
Pairing: Ukoku/Koumyou
Disclaimer: Saiyuki and it's characters belong to Kazuya Minekura.
Summary: Ukoku recalls an exchange with Koumyou that changed the way he lived and thought.
Author's notes: Came out as uke!Ukoku. >.>;

As the one who carried two of heaven's scriptures, no one could break through that man. Koumyou Sanzo was an enigma who spoke in parables. He could enchant you with his speech for hours, but in the end, that very man admitted to being naïve.

Ukoku awoke many times under the gaze of the moon - contrasting the black sky. It was when he was most awake and when he felt most at peace. The orb knew his motives; it was the only heavenly body who could follow him regardless of his travels. All Ukoku would have to do was look into the sky to see the moon by his side.

“I don't ever want to wake into a world without you.” Ukoku whispered.

It felt as if Ukoku awoke more and more to the sight of the new moon. The satellite hid itself once a month, or whenever the weather wasn't clear, but those days had become longer since Koumyou left this world. Those days had been more lucid and definite. He really felt his life was starting to have meaning after Koumyou stepped in.

That radiance swallowed up the night.

It was simpler for Ukoku to live in his dreams where the moon was almost within grasp. Time seemed to have caused the moon to distance itself from the man who inhabited the night. He had been certain destiny kept them together, Koumyou nearly convinced him of this.

“Your mind is dark and hollow. You seek knowledge that could never be obtained and that you could never accept. That's why the chakra never graced that pretty forehead of yours.”

Ukoku could still feel the elder Sanzo's fingers on his forehead. They were long and slender; such powerful digits capable of what Ukoku was not. Koumyou understood things in a way that did not need much explanation - if at all. He on the other hand had not understood. It was why he pushed his mind and body to higher levels and why he had to make Sanzo.

Goudai had told him if he didn't know why he had not been selected for Sanzo, then it was proof enough. He knew now, that he wasn't ready because he sought it. He desired the title, it meant something to him. The rank of Sanzo meant little to both Goudai and Koumyou. Neither bragged nor boasted their rank. A Sanzo did not value his title nor life.

His wants were all rooted in desire. It all meant nothing in the grand scheme of things. He realized this now. Koumyou meant nothing as well, that was why he had no trouble saying good-bye to the man he once valued so much.

As a youth, he was determined to know what made Koumyou Sanzo tick. He knew the faded blond deceived himself.

Ukoku closed his eyes.

Cloaked by the power of the Muten Scripture, Ukoku was able to follow Koumyou unnoticed. He was able to observe the man put on an act. He was too kind to others and would rarely speak his mind. At first Ukoku thought Koumyou was sincerely shy about letting others know of his thoughts and desires. But that wasn't true, Koumyou denied himself of such pleasures.

Why?

Koumyou said his good-bye to the monks of the small temple as he nearly ran towards a side street. What's gotten into him? Ukoku crept unnoticed to the side of Koumyou. The elder man walked into a back street. It looked like Koumyou was taking off his Sanzo attire. Ukoku whistled suggestively making Koumyou jump.

“What are you doing here, Ukoku?”

“I was about to ask you.”

Koumyou turned around sheepishly. “I'm getting ready for a hot date?”

“So, you didn't forget we had a date!”

Koumyou chuckled. “How long were you in town?”

“Long enough to see you lying to all those people.”

Koumyou let his arms out of the robes with a sigh. He was avoiding Ukoku's gaze as he fumbled around for a cigarette. Ukoku lit Koumyou's as he took one for himself.

“I'm waiting.”

The elder man let out a few puffs of smoke before he answered. The noise level in the twilight street wasn't too high with people distracted in their daily routine of buying and selling. Koumyou looked past Ukoku to them.

“What makes you think I was lying?”

“Hm, how about the way you told them all those things? You were telling them what they wanted to hear. You wouldn't say those things to me.”

“I wouldn't? How do you know this?” Koumyou sat on a crate.

Ukoku crouched in front of Koumyou. “You were lying.” He laid his forearm on Koumyou's lap.

“I was showing compassion.”

“By showing a misrepresentation of yourself?”

“I was imparting a sense of worth to them, as I would to Kouryuu.” Koumyou continued smoking.

“You felt pity.”

Koumyou's eyes grew as wide as Ukoku's smirk; he had hit a nerve. Ukoku was so excited he put out his cigarette and began to massage the elder man's knees and thighs.

“M-mercy,” he stammered. “I was being merciful.”

“My, is that so? You show pity to Kouryuu by making him your disciple. That way he isn't a worthless temple rat. Yes?”

Koumyou's face grew dark as Ukoku's massaging became more suggestive.

Ukoku was intrigued by the dark look on Koumyou's face. He had hit a nerve.

“Not pity, compassion.” Koumyou blew smoke in Ukoku's face.

“Pity, mercy, compassion - aren't they all the same?”

“If they were they'd be written with the same character.”

“And how would this be written?” Ukoku fixed his glasses.

Ukoku's hands slid from Koumyou's knees to his thighs and hips as he propped himself up for a kiss. Koumyou did not resist, nor did he encourage. The younger man sat on the elders lap, cupped Koumyou's face and kissed him slowly.

The raven-haired man broke the kiss after a while and stared intensely into the eyes of the elder man. He could not read them as he was distracted by the reflection of his own dark pools. What Ukoku saw was a desperate man.

Koumyou blinked, allowing Ukoku to break out of his reprieve. The two once more engaged each other in a kiss. Ukoku probed his tongue into the mouth of the blond. There the two had become absorbed in a dance that would soon mirror their bodies.

The blond broke off the kiss when Ukoku pressed his groin against him.

“Not in front of the people.”

“Hmm, we have an audience?” Ukoku turned to see none of the people on the street paying attention. “No one is looking.”

“I am.”

“Why do you care? Afraid of letting them find out two Sanzo's are capable of this?” The younger Sanzo laughed.

“In the end, it doesn't matter how I feel.”

The raven-eyed man slid his hand to unfasten Koumyou's pants. The elder Sanzo let him massage his length. Ukoku was even rewarded by having the blond start undressing him. The younger man could feel his dick harden as Koumyou began to run has hands gently over his torso.

“You'll deny yourself just to satisfy my own perverted needs? I'm sure a lot of working girls share your sentiment.” Ukoku laughed at Koumyou's mouth. “Does that qualify them to be Sanzo? To give others worth but not yourself?”

“You think I can honestly deceive anyone?” Koumyou stood up, sending Ukoku to the ground. He tried to hide his erection back within his slacks.

“I'm sure Kouryuu is just as taken with you as I am.”

“I'm no god.”

“But I bet you are his only truth, as you've become mine.” Ukoku removed his glasses and set them aside with his sutra and robe.

“How senseless the two of you would be to think I would hold some supreme knowledge. How foolish to think I could equate to a truth akin to that of religion. Truth is a variation of reality. We individually come up with ways of interpreting the motives of others to deny our own mind's respective thought.”

Black eyes glazed listening to the blond speak. Ukoku couldn't help but touch himself as Koumyou continued. It was almost unbelievable to think the man in front of him had no idea how much weight his words carried. The very fact turned him on.

“Mmmaybe to give ourselves worth by trying to raise the value of sssomeone else's.” Ukoku moaned as he stroked himself.

“To truly believe in this sentiment, worries me.” Koumyou tried to ignore the ache in his nether regions and Ukoku's display. “Belief is self-satisfaction. Your cause is not helped by believing what is in front of you is capable of holding sovereignty.”

“Oh fuck with me more, Koumyou, yes!” Ukoku threw his head back and spread his legs, over dramatizing.

The blond looked toward the main street. It was emptier now as they could hear the sounds of the festival farther away at the main street. Koumyou went down on all fours and stood over Ukoku. “What do you hope to find out, Ukoku?”

Ukoku closed his eyes at the sensation of Koumyou's voice by his ear. “My truth, I told you.” He huffed.

Brown eyes glanced from the darkening street to Ukoku and back again. Not even a stray cat was around. He got up and threw the crate he was sitting on towards the street. After a pause, no one showed and the only sound he heard was Ukoku's husky breathing over distant merriment.

“Looks like you scared everyone away.”

Koumyou removed the remainder of his clothes. The blond made his way on top of Ukoku; he started resting himself on the younger man and tasting the muscles of his torso. Ukoku's body was fit and useful while Koumyou's body showed remnants of what was once a lean, muscular body.

Their hands traversed each other's body; tasting, needing, feeling. Ukoku's hands trembled as he mapped his new territory with the tips of his fingers. He moved on to licking as Koumyou grazed Ukoku's lithe frame with his teeth. Both moaned at the sensations of their bodies touching and hips grinding.

Ukoku took hold of Koumyou's body with his limbs. The young Sanzo held on for dear life, for fear he would be devoured. But I want to be eaten? Am I scared? Ukoku jerked as he felt the pressure of Koumyou's hips on his own. How can he move like that? The elder man smiled devilishly as he moved on to softly graze Ukoku's lips with his teeth. The young Sanzo moaned as he felt Koumyou's fingers inside, stretching him.

That man had led so many to believe he was some saint, though he was not someone who needed to be handled gently. He remembered that well enough from the time Koumyou grabbed his wrist tightly at Zen’ou Temple.

He moaned, his blurry vision looking up into the sky ablaze with fireworks. Thanks to Koumyou saving the day, the village was able to hold their founding festival. Though it was a shame the blond had to compromise his true self. Or did he? Ukoku inhaled deeply as he felt Koumyou begin to thrust into him.

It was not clear to Ukoku whether Koumyou was being gentle to mock him, or whether he was not involved in his deed. Ukoku did not dwell much on this as Koumyou began to thrust with more variation. The younger man was not able to anticipate the blond's moves as easily as he thought. Thanks to this, Koumyou succeeded in making Ukoku moan and groan with as much or as little intensity as he wished.

Whatever Koumyou Sanzo said could be taken one way or another. Just as the man mentioned earlier: reality was subject to what he held as truth and not what was given to him as proof.

Ukoku would never have allowed himself to be penetrated, but he understood now that it did not matter. These feelings would all change as his mood, his life, and surroundings changed.

Koumyou was like the moon reflected in a pool of water, and the wanderer was cavalier to think he could do what no other accomplished. He would have the moon in his grasp and be able to grasp it. The wanderer stepped closer and deeper into the pool of water until he fell in, swallowed by the crushing waves of the water - his defeat. Ukoku was that confident wanderer who believed he found a way to touch the moon.

“Mmmugahh!”

“I was beginning to wonder if you left me in a beam of moonlight.” chuckled Koumyou.

Koumyou pulled out of Ukoku and began using his braids' tip to brush along his body. Ukoku's body reacted by jerking away from the touch. He wanted Koumyou to stop but he wanted him to continue. It was worsened when Koumyou focused his hair solely on his cock. Koumyou gripped Ukoku's hand, warning him not to interfere.

“I just want to help the process.” He moaned.

At that, the tingling of Koumyou's braid was replaced with his warm mouth.

“Never mind, you know what you're doing.” breathed Ukoku.

Koumyou slid his mouth over Ukoku's cock, expertly alternating between using his hands and tongue. It didn't take long for Ukoku to come into that blond's mouth. The elder man spit out the semen into his hands and coated his own length with the liquid and motioned for Ukoku to turn around.

Ukoku did just that as he got on all fours to accommodate the long-haired blond. Koumyou positioned himself behind Ukoku; he was able to access the black-haired man with improved ease. The experienced Sanzo glided with skill in and out of the younger man. If he was this agile at his age, Ukoku could only dream what he was like in his youth.

The young Sanzo was not even able to control his moans. The fireworks were reaching their climax just as Koumyou was. His moves became more intense and frantic. Ukoku helped the blond along by pumping himself back into him. He could hear the fireworks grow louder as it was joined by the cheering of villagers and the cries of their passion.

Ukoku opened his eyes. He came in his hand, wholly on his own. The wind breezed through the blades of grass tickling Ukoku's skin like a phantom touch from Koumyou. The clouds occasionally showed the blanketed glow of the moon. He was surrounded by the sound of quiet. In that vacuum, he could clearly hear one of their last conversations.

“Whatever is temporary transforms and whatever transforms is allowed to endure hardships.”

“Are we breaking up?” he had teased.

“Whatever happens...”

“Yes?”

“Happens.” Koumyou smiled conveying sad understanding of coming events.

“Every night I find you and seek you, Koumyou.” Ukoku fixed his black robes as he stood up. “You may not always be there, but I can wait for my truth. I thought it was you but....”

Ukoku looked at the clouds shielding the white orb. The wind was turning the clouds into veils, he was able to see more of the eternal shine. “Any awareness of falsity I may have entered a deep sleep, long ago.”

Ukoku's hair billowed in the wind along with his sutra and robes. He picked up his straw hat and placed it on his head. He wasn't in the mood to face the night sky's brightest light.

“Alone, my thoughts remain with you.”
