Our lucky seven years

Feb 27, 2015 20:35

It's seven years since Rosie and Tabitha came to live here! I'm missing Tabby - I went out into the garden to touch her grave and talk to her - but Rosie has spent as much time as she could sitting on me. Now that my annual work deadline has passed, she's very keen to get as much lap service as possible to make up for opportunities lost in the last few weeks, so she's quite pleased by all the World Cup cricket on television.

There are hardly any photos of me with Tabitha, so I've been trying to get a few with Rosie while she's still with me (she's now seventeen and three-quarters). She's looking rather worried in this one as she knows we're about to stick a pill down her throat, but for some reason we're carrying out an extra ritual to prolong the ordeal. But there wouldn't have been anyone here to take the photo otherwise.

To make up for all that indignity, Rosie had some tinned salmon for her anniversary dinner, while I had some of the last of the spare Christmas cake.

And here she is on her own, so you can admire her properly - perched on the new armchair, trying to persuade me to come and sit on it.
