We told the lads we expected to see them back soon. Sooner than last time, anyway.

Not quite sure whether Liverpool Council are planning their own reception, since the Liverpudlians are very keen to came credit for the Championship courtesy of the Aigburth pitches!

Wow indeed! I knew that Manchster Town Hall was beautiful on the outside, but I hadn't realised that it was gorgeous on the inside too.

Congratulations once more on winning the trophy. You look as though you have managed to "catch the sun", as we used to say. Is that a legacy of the hot and sunny weather of just over a week ago?

And we didn't even get into the Great Hall, where Ford Madox Brown's murals are. Here's a detail from "Chetham's Life's Dream", which I took during the long night of the 2010 General Election while we were waiting for the count. Full pic and explanation here.

Shameless exploitation of political perks...

Excellent!

It couldn't happen to a nicer oligarch!

(Does that make you the Slash Tsar?)

You do have a beautiful Town Hall, yes, so just the place to hold a function for something close to your heart.

As I was saying on the other journal, it often stands in for the Houses of Parliament in television dramas, as it's the right sort of architecture and there's less of a security issue about filming.
