The father-in-law and I have decided that in light of the CW website's epic fail last week, we're just going to pool our resources and buy the season on iTunes. It's fun pretending to be grown-ups with money.
I have heard rumors that this ep received something of a lukewarm reaction from some quarters of fandom. Fair warning, then:
it filled me with giggles and flaily joy.
Re. the cracktacular hunt: SHOW!! *squishes* I missed you SO MUCH!! I was so in need of a Monster of the Week with banter and crackiness and Stargate actor cameos. Also, I knew that Paris Hilton was guest starring sometime this season, and I was really dubious that Show could make that work. However. I did not anticipate Paris Hilton playing a displaced pagan god playing Paris Hilton. Props, Show. Major props.
Re. the continuing character arc: the Winchester brothers just discussed their relationship and there was no shouting, hitting, crying, or stomping off to another state! The jokes about the apocalypse and signs thereof practically write themselves.
Which is good, because I don't have energy to write them myself, seeing as how I'm busy being all a-flail with joy over how grown-up they both managed to be and how clearly they communicated! Special love for Sam's assertion that he doesn't want to be this way but he doesn't want things back the way they were either because they're only where they are now because of how things were before. *does the dance of long-overdue realizations*
I always think of
feliciakw when a hunt takes place in Ohio, because I know how much she loves seeing her home state make appearances on SPN.
I love that the sheriff this week is less canny than usual and totally buys his own government assassin story.
Nooooo, Sam, you killed the pagan god before he could turn into Jeffrey Dean Morgaaaan!! *pouts*
AND THEN DEAN GIVES SAM THE KEYS TO THE IMPALA AND LO, IT IS EVEN BETTER THAN A HUG BECAUSE OH, BOYS AND THERE IS ROCK MUSIC AND THEY ARE GOING TO GO KICK ASS AND TAKE NAMES AND BE MORE AWESOME AND TOGETHER THAN EVER!!
*expires from squee*
