Note to self:
As you may already be aware, the purpose of putting a lid on a pot is to keep the heat in. Now, one might be able to deduce from this fact that heat rises (thus the efficacy of the lid) and that there is generally a lot of it under the lid of a boiling pot.
Given these facts, one could, if one were to actually use one's brain for two seconds, figure out that it is therefor a bad idea to place any part of one's self (for example an arm, face, or other extremity) over the pot directly after having removed the lid.
Seriously, how do you not fall down more?
