It's not time to worry yet

1. Writing: The first draft of the Narnia fic is done! \o/ I haven't looked at it for over twenty-four hours, so I have no idea if still like it or not, but I liked it when I finished it Saturday evening. I'm feeling sort of fretful about it, though, because it's just such a departure for me to try and write something lyrical and thinky with character arch type happenings. I feel like I need to write something short and funny that won't make me try to get too far into anyone else's head. Luckily, I signed up for sg_fignewton's Jack Alpha-bits challenge a while back, due to a complete lack of self-restraint. After this, no more ficathons or challenges for a while. I mean it this time. Really!

2. Movies: Saw Shaun of the Dean Dead and O Brother, Where Art Thou?, both for the first time this weekend. I know, yes, I've been living under a rock until now. Anyway, I liked them both very well. Off-beat British zombie movie was extremely funny, and featured Queen songs. Deep South retelling of Homer was likewise amusing, and likewise featured awesome music.

3. Books: Stayed up an hour late on Saturday night to finish To Kill a Mockingbird. Duuuuude. So good. So funny and sad and scary and touching. I may have to name a kid Atticus, though as izhilzha pointed out, nick-names would be in short supply. Also, for reasons best known only to my weird brain, in the movie-in-my-head version of the story Atticus Finch is played by Denzel Washington. *eyebrow* I think it's just that I can so hear that wonderful, careful voice of his saying so many of Atticus's best lines. Need to see the movie and find out of Gregory Peck's equally wonderful voice matches up, too.

4. Vain Frippery: You guys will not believe the shoes I got Friday. I measured the heels yesterday, and they are no less than four inches tall. And? I can walk in them. I can walk better in them than I can in my three-inchers, actually, which seems odd. But I wore them to church, yesterday, which is something of a trial by fire for new shoes since I have to stand so much and I sing for two masses. I was definitely ready to take them off when we got home, but I wasn't in any pain, and I didn't nearly fall and die on the loft stairs once! *does victory dance in ridiculously high heels* They make me almost as tall as Mr. Bill! I'll have to get pictures sometime this week.
