A surfeit of Sams
People who have difficulty figuring out which Sam (Carter, Winchester, or -I-Am) I'm talking about in a given post can laugh at me, now, because I had my own first instance of Sam confusion just now. I was cutting up onions for dinner, and Ernie had just been saying something about Sam-I-Am, and then...
ERNIE: So I wonder what Sam...you know...is.
ME: What she is? *baffled*
ERNIE: No, not Sam, Sam.
ME: Not...what?
ERNIE: Sam. What his mind powers are about. What his deal is.
ME: Oh. Supernatural. What Sam's deal is. Yes.
ERNIE: I guess that's probably going to be the thing in the second season, huh? The first season, it was Find Their Dad, this season it'll be Find Out What Sam's Deal Is. Since we already know what Dean's deal is.
ME: And what is Dean's deal?
ERNIE: To be hot.
ME: Ah, yes. Some, myself included, might assert that "to be hot" is a big part of Sam's deal, also.
ERNIE: *happy shrug* Fine with me!
And she doesn't have any homework she has to do before TV tonight, so if I don't get back downstairs to start watching SPN with her, she's likely to start playing "Carry On, My Wayward Son" on the piano again, as an incentive.
