More snarking of mainstream lit

Okay, let me just say that I enjoy the occasional instance of mainstream "literary" fiction, so I don't want anyone out there thinking that I harbor some deep loathing for books that win lots of prizes that aren't shaped like rocket ships. I just find a lot to be annoyed with in highbrow readers who sneer at genre fiction and prophesy its demise ( Read more... )

Between the wands and the polyjuice, no one is ever going to believe JKR hasn't spent hours pouring over fanfic.

Is it just me, or has Rowling become . . . cruder in the 7th book? I just can't imagine that Hermione would tell Ron where to stick his wand, even if it was muttered under her breath and out of his hearing. :o

It's not just you. It doesn't help that my brain is kind of juvenile about this sort of thing, but Rowling is definitely putting some of this stuff in on purpose.

True, so I guess this is to be expected. I'm just going nuts trying not to snicker inappropriately at every instance of the word "wand" now because it's just gotten to the point where I cannot make my sophomoric brain shut up.

No spoilers plzkthnx! Heh, I'm almost there, I'm on pg. 533. Then I can actually, like, read my friendslist again. (Not that anyone on my FL would post spoilers outside of a cut tag, but no one is talking about anything else at the moment. I feel so aloooone.)
