Buffy, Boyfriends, Star Trek Night, and DivaCups

I had a lovely, fannish weekend! On Friday night, I hung out with Meela, and we complained about our lives until 6 AM, at which point we found that we were not tired at all. So we watched two episodes of S4 Buffy and then went to breakfast, and I came home and finally crashed at about 10 AM Saturday. At noon, greyandgrey called me, because she is crazycakes and gets up in the MORNING on weekends even though she is in COLLEGE. (I didn't pick up.) By the time I got myself to the point of sitting up in bed blearily and fumbling for pants, she and shoemaster had already been awake for hours and talking to each other and making arrangements and shortly thereafter, arrived at my dorm ready to hang out and watch Due South.

Which was really lots of fun. custardpringle found us in the suite, and watched with us. It's really amazingly entertaining to pimp a slasher into Due South, I have to say. There were endless hilarious exchanges such as this, early in MotB:

greyandgrey: This show could not be more gay if they kissed on screen!
The rest of us: *secretive flailing*

And we ate Thai food and squealed about boyfriends and it was lots of awesome. Until I broke custardpringle's laptop charger (by accident!) because I am a dumb klutz. :(

Sunday, I slept in, and then went grocery shopping for tomatoes and cheese and Orangina and cookies. At 10 PM, I headed downstairs for Star Trek Night. I heart Star Trek Night. We usually watch one episode of the original series and one Next Gen, and snark and giggle through the whole thing (last night's original series ep had these strange, 12 foot high ape-beast things with spears? And basically the entire episode was structured around allowing Spock to use the word "logical" 400 more times than usual). The event is organized by a set of adorable gay boys in my dorm, and my favorite couple always sits together and snuggles throughout the whole ridiculous experience. It's wonderful. ♥

Hey, you know what I threatened promised you all ages ago, and never delivered? A DivaCup Update!!

Long story short, I love it. I have the whole insertion/removal thing down to a science, and I have finally gotten the hang of manipulating the thing around my damn hymen. (Biology: WHY?) Honestly, I can't imagine that losing my virginity is going to hurt that much, at this point; there has been far too much activity in that region (of both the fun and practical variety) for my bits to be justified in putting up much of a fuss. I've also found that my vaginal muscles are extremely helpful in making the thing sit right: by clenching and wiggling, I can get it to pop open every single time, even if I inserted it wrong, and force it into the right place if it's sitting too low. Hooray for having a hands-on relationship with my lady parts! \o/

I'm still not at the point I was at with tampons, where I basically just needed a convenient door to duck behind and I was good to go, and I may never get there. The whole origami aspect of the DivaCup requires a certain amount of privacy and dedication. On the other, highly significant hand, no more paranoia about going over the toxic shock time limit! Hooray! And no running out of tampons, and no land-fill contributions, and no leakage. DivaCup, never leave me. Let's be best friends forever.
