Ai, Revisted.

I think I posted about Ai already on here. Here's her story, cleaned up and with a new twist.

Ai was born into foreign lands in a pack called Evening’s Terrace, the only pup to her sire and dame, Prongs and Kiel. Her parents knew as soon as she opened her eyes that she was blind, and while they mourned the pup’s loss, they also sensed something special about her… thusly, they decided to appropriately name her “Ai”, and as they always told her “Ai, my dear… ‘love is blind’”. Ai grew up within the pack that her parents were in, always treated well, and with respect. She loved her lands, but as she grew older, she began to hear a calling… to go out into the world. To heal people’s hurts. It was a curious thing, but her parents, whom had seen this special talent within her weeks after her birthing day agreed to let her go.

Ai traveled far and wide, encountering many hardships on her journey as a blind wolf. Many tried to take advantage of her after she left the safety that her pack had always provided her with. She was suddenly left without any shelter, but she pushed on, becoming experienced on her own, although things were very hard. She did find some helpful strangers along the way, and it was the only way she survived-she also became adept at fishing, the only hunting she could really succeed at. She scraped by, but was always very thin and frail seeming.

Ai eventually came to the lands of S’yeldon. Here she met many a wolf, and became close to one in particular, a male named Demon. Demon had a soul wounded by love, and she grew closer to him in every moment, working through his pain, as was her calling. She was a healer of mortal wound and of soul, and this was what she did best. Her love truly was blind. She became close with Demon, a wolf that was so in love with the alpha of S’yeldon that he was plagued by constant pain when he saw her with the alpha male. Ai helped him fight through his hard times day in and day out.

The pack of S’yeldon eventually broke up, and Ai lost contact with Demon during the chaos that ensued. She followed his scent for weeks, successful tracking him to a new pack, the pack he was in fact alpha of at Toxicity. Their reunion was a joyous one, though she realized that he had sunk even further into his depression, now calling himself by the name of Tainted. She remained close to Tainted, and the two fell into a deep love, a friendship that could never be broken. Tainted named her beta and master healer of Toxicity, and they spent their days together in general bliss as she attempted to heal his wounds once again.

However, a sickness descended on the lands of Toxicity, and many of the wolves that lived there died. Ai also contracted the sickness, and for many months she remained on her own, fighting the disease with the healer’s knowledge that she had. Most perished, but when Ai emerged from the torment of disease, triumphant, none found her except Tainted. He had been the only survivor that hadn’t fled Toxicity for safer ground long since. Ai feared for his safety when he came near her, lest he catch the disease as well, but he assured her that he would not… and if he did, he knew that the white wolf would care for him through his sickness, and that he would become well again.

Tainted and Ai continued to live within the lands of Toxicity, mourning their dead. Wolves began to return to the territory once the stench of vile sickness and death had blown off into the wind, and things returned to normal. However, history must always repeat itself. Once again, the plague returned to the lands. This time, Ai was able to ward it off, being immune to it this time, due to her extensive sickness before. Tainted was not as lucky. When Ai emerged from her den this time around, she found that the only wolf that had survived this round of torment was a new recruit, Alcyone. Alcyone told Ai of the horrid news, and she collapsed into fits of sorrow at her feet, her heart at its breaking point. Ai, the lover, had never felt so much pain in her life.

Ai left Alcyone to be alpha of the Toxicity lands, having no more interest in the place. She knew she could not handle the scent of pain and death any longer. She traveled for many weeks before finding an empty cave in a mountain range. Here she lived the life of a hermit, her only purpose being to collect plants for medicinal concoctions, and mourning the loss of Tainted. She lived like this for years, becoming more and more dejected, older, and thinner. Until the day that a stranger arrived on her doorstep. He was a blackblood wolf named Tybil, and Ai knew with the senses she’d been born with that he was as mentally wounded as she currently was. Thusly she invited the wolf to stay with her for a time, and he seemed to agree all too readily. She spent her days after that moment teaching the younger wolf her trade, telling him what plants did what for the body-something he seemed to drink up.

Before they knew it, a year had passed. Ai began to feel saddened by the fact that she’d stolen the young pup from his homelands, tantalizing him with knowledge that kept him tied to her-his place was not with an old female… it was with his real kin. She mentioned her thoughts to him, and was even more saddened when he seemed to want to refuse-while she vastly enjoyed his company, she felt guilty that he had forgotten where he was from for her sake. At last he got her to agree to travel… the thought of living her last years alone in that forsaken cave in the hills was not a pleasant one. Ai bid Tybil to escort her to the lands of Greater North, where she might join a pack of wolves and live-though she often hoped that the large blackblood would return to visit her one day.
