Chapter 12 is still only half finished, I’m afraid. There was another scene, which will be either at the end of the following chapter or at the beginning of chapter 14 (the later being more likely), demanding to be written. I couldn’t get it out of my head and in the end just caved. The interesting thing about this scene is that it was not part of the original outline (okay, a lot of things weren’t part of it, after all I thought the frickin’ thing would only be 20.000 words long or even less). Anyways, I actually think it’s one of the most important scenes of the story. So I’m actually kind of glad I already wrote it, because it gives me more time to go back and edit.
I plan on tackling the Ministry scene for this chapter tonight. I’ll have to dig out OotP first, though, to look up the description of the MoM there. After all I want to get it right. Luckily my fic does not take DH in account, I would hate to write the Ministry after its downfall.
It’s very interesting how different it is to write a scene taking place in an already defined setting. As I said in my last post, I have trouble describing new things, settings etc. For the Ministry scene as well as the scene in chapter 14 I have to work closely with canon. It makes for completely different writing.
On another note I signed up for the
weasley_fest fic exchange. It’s going to be my very first exchange and I’m actually very excited about it (yeah, I know I’m a dork). Anyways challenges will be handed out in the first week of March. I’m curious what I’ll get. Haven’t written much except Hermione/Fred and some Hermione/Draco, so it will be very challenging if I get to write a different pairing. We’ll see.
One rec, before I go and start writing MM. I just read a very nice first chapter of a Hermione/Fred story by
mandy_jg called '
Something Stupid'. It starts out really good and I’ve got high hopes for the following chapters.
One more thing, am I the only one who’s glad that Valentine’s Day is over in a few hours? Might be the fact that I’m always single around that time, but I really don’t like that holiday.
