Purring Horatio

I really didn't mean to do this.

See, last night I was sitting down to catch up on my friends page, enjoying a bit of relative quiet with the kids finally in bed, and the hubby was watching TV in the room with me. This is normally a tad aggravating because with the TV on I can't concentrate on whatever I'm reading, but hey, marriage means compromise, or so I'm told. Anyway, he's flipping channels, and comes across CSI Miami. I've never gotten into that show, despite my fannish obsession with the original, so I mostly ignored it. The plot escaped me entirely, but I was a bit drawn in by the redheaded lead guy. Horatio, I believe.

From what I've heard online, a lot of people seem to be irritated by him; I've heard know-it-all and pretentious and smarmy thrown around and Grissom-wannabe and well, that just doesn't sound attractive, does it? But he's... well, he kinda purrs, doesn't he? He speaks all low and smooth and there's something about it. Also he had a moment where I guess he was offering company for some woman (I have no clue who she was, but it seemed there was some history there and she was threatened or something and maybe wanted to not be home alone) but then it became clear that another man was already there with her and Horatio did this embarrassed, flustered laugh and got out of there fast and it just made him more human, I suppose.

Apparently, his thing is being good with child witnesses and victims. That's how I remember him being introduced, and it seems to be carried through because the few episodes I've seen bits of all had him dealing with the Traumatized Child of the Week. He is kinda calming, I guess, in that growly self-assured way.

Plus, I hear there's a Greg-like character that everyone seems to love.

I so don't need another fandom. Someone talk me out of this.
