XMFC AU Rec Part 1
I apologize that there will most likely be quite a few of these but I don't feel comfortable posting all the one's I like at once without a refresher and I don't have time for that as yet. So here are the first three:
.Our House in the Middle of Our Street by Clocks
The author took what could be a really cracky idea and put Charles and Erik sans powers in situation that allows them to still be Charles and Erik and the dynamic we love still holds. Erik is prickly and mysterious, and uses Charles well meaning naivete and his privilege to play a trick on him that is quite amusing for the readers and as you can imagine, very enjoyable for Erik.:) And you can feel that coming from Erik, even coming from Charles's point of view and it's fantastic. Also, the kids don't just chime in to gush or have their two cents about our favorite duo, they get plenty of development on their own.
Did I mention Erik as a handyman with sexy tats, unrequited and lusting Charles and what seems to be some sort of nefarious plot involving Emma? Yeah, so check this one out even though its a WIP or wait until it is completed if you prefer.:)
1 Utopia by takmarierah
The following rec is very much set in x-men universe; whether its the movies or pre X-Men Legacy canon-verse. Also WIP.
Erik has managed to achieve his dominion over the human race; he still wants Charles but naturally under these circumstances Charles does not want him. The stakes are higher and the cat and mouse game between Charles and Erik ;s disturbing but very fascinating as Charles maneuvers himself secretly undermining Erik's plans and emotionally manipulating Erik to go along with some of his ideas. Charles is a captive here but he won't go quietly and he is amazingly sneaky, conflicted yet hopeful so he is still the Charles we know except he is learning to either accept or deal with Erik's feelings that are clearly stronger than his own. But even with trying to prevent Erik from doing even more awful things Charles is growing to care for his captor and ever the optimist hopes he can get Erik to see reason.
This might end horribly but you don't even care because it's so well-written and engaging you are willing to take the risk. And if I didn't make myself clear, Erik is pretty fucked up in this and you are even sure if you Charles to want him back or not. We shall see.....
So if you took a chance on the above fic you might want something with a happy ending so I am reccing

Charles as the Nanny for Eric's precocious but sweet little terrors known as Wanda and Pietr and they fall in love. This is such a fun read with wonderful character voices you can see it unfolding, despite it being very vastly different from anything you can expect with Erik or Charles.
