The other day I was reading an article in White Dwarf about how to paint figures in the style of old bronze statues. It seemed so unusual to my usual method of painting metal that I wanted to give it a go. ... So I took pics of the process, as much for the practice of photography and lighting as anything. Still some work to go on that.
But I'm happy with the result on the figure.
Assembled Figure
Bare plastic.
Undercoat
Chaos Black undercoat. I don't usually undercoat in black because many colours don't go over it without looking muddy.
Basecoat
Very heavy drybrush of Jade Green. This was the weird step, since when did anyone paint green below metal?
Highlight
A heavy drybrush of Dwarf Bronze metallic.
Final Highlight
Light drybrush of Shining Gold metallic. Gold over bronze was also a new one for me, but it worked surprisingly well. Pity the photo doesn't show it very well.
Completed
Complete figure with shield. This model only took minutes to paint as drybrushing is pretty simple, and I didn't have to pick out any of the details.
