Cant decide if Im cynical or others are just dumb... a little of both maybe?
Also it occurs to me that a large volume of the things people believe in or talk about are intended to be completely rhetorical... as in, they are used to evoke feelings in others toward that person, rather than to affect any real change in the world. Yeah I know thats obvious but it illustrates my musings which follow :) Which has led me to no end of amusement thinking about how seriously people take politics, and social issues, or whatever they're passionate about, when none of them intend to do anything about it. Its just so much hot air, why are they spending their time blowing it toward me? Dont they have something useful to be doing with their lives?
I think for every hour I spend talking about something, Ive probably spent several hours actually participating and working toward what I want to change, which is the experience from which I gain my point of view... it boggles me that people can rant at length on a topic without ever getting their hands dirty in the pursuit of their desires. And for this the experts deem me disfunctional... I just think that passion must come from context and exposure, and not from study and debate or just what youve heard. Especially if you heard it from the press, they're just entertainers after all...
My option is probably unpopular because when you try and do things yourself you quickly discover the natural forces which make your dreams impossible, and then you loose part of yourself. Its probably easier for you and your fellow dreamers to just pretend.
