advanced techniques (needs editing)

Stiobhanrune had a post which got me thinking. It regarded people searching for advanced magickal texts.

It seems to me that advanced practicioners or anything are merely persons who have mastered the basics so well with such variety that they can do extroadinary things with them and/or perform them in masterful ways.

For example.

I had a friend who was emotionally and physically unwell. People were focusing attention on her and she was having a hard time dealing with it. All of a sudden I saw a bright beam of white light streak in from the window above her (like someone turned on a switch). It grabbed my attention enough to get me to look behind me to where it had gone and I watched in awe as the the light hit a young lady's outstretched hand for a moment before she merely refocused the beam back to my friend. She stood there for a few moments with this bright white light streaming in, hitting her on the had and then bouncing out to my friend.

This is basic stuff. She drew on universal white light and sent it to someone who needed help. But she was so GOOD at it that she made it masterful.

There are things that if one masters the basics they can attempt... These are what people are hoping for when they read books looking for "master techniques".

So I have a question. I haven't seen many of these in my magickal life. Does anybody else know of any in SPECIFICALLY metaphysics. Do any books offer these? Does anybody know training materials reading: "Practice X until you can perform THIS RESULT. After you can reliably perform that result try Y and practice that until you can perform a MORE CHALLENGING RESULT.
