This entry can also be called "They're on to me!"...
Dear Best Buy and Futureshop,
Now I understand(especially now) how busy the retail industry can get. And I know how busy electronics stores get during
boxing day and the following "boxing week". Having stated all of this , one would think you would make the necessary preparations for all the people coming to your stores to shop and buy different things. Now , why is it I had to call and visit 4 stores to inquire about
this? And if it wasn't enough to be told that all the stores were sold out and they wouldn't have more till after new year's , one of the Best Buy stores tried to sell me a smaller tablet that was returned and opened. Now I don't know about you guys , but I wouldn't buy used clothing and I certainly wouldn't buy used techno gadgets , so the Best Best buy fails in the regard...then there was Future Shop , I went to two stores and both were sold out. But this is the best part , out of curiosity I asked who was buying all the tablets , expecting it would be a bunch of professional graphic artists and artists alike. But oh no , it was no one involved in a design field who ran off with what should have been my Christmas gift...it was...LITTLE OLD LADIES WHO WANT TO MAKE SCRAPBOOK LAYOUTS ON PHOTOSHOP!!!! If I needed a picture to describe my reaction ,
this does it just nicely. I can't believe it , these little old women are on to me or something!
Love and tabletless,
Leah
Dear little old ladies,
Okay now I'm going to try really hard to not sound like some kind of elitist or anything , trust me , I'm not. But seriously , do you absolutely need a graphics tablet or photoshop for that manner , to cut , paste and beautify a few photos for a book? Like I can say with all honesty that I need a tablet. You see , there's quite a few people who colour their artwork using the aforementioned photo editing program and a computer mouse. But the thing is this , since 1985 , I've been part of that small 10% of the world's population who are lefthanded. Now you might argue that I learned to use a mouse with my right hand , long before there were lefty friendly mice so then I must have enough coordination to use one for art. But I say to this ,
look at the monstrosities that will be made without a tablet and look at the kind of things that are made
with a tablet! See what a tablet and almost 4 years of cging and lots of time drawing gets you? Yeah...and I'm pretty sure you can do your scrapbooking stuff without photoshop , how did the person who first invented scrapbooking go? And I seriously believe that a chunk of these women who stole my ran off with tablets , just bought them because they saw it in a magazine and said "Ooo let me get one of these pen things since Scrapbooking weekly says they're good and I can make pictures of my grandson better!"(mom practically said the same thing once). I on the other hand , was told by my computer nerd father , "You know , you'd have an easier time if you had this tablet to draw with" and he gave me my first one and they rest as they say was history. But these women , they come in on my thing with their damn scrapbook and argh...yeah people were making art for thousands of years without computers but I wasn't around thousands of years ago D:! I just want my bloody tablet and junk so I can continue on my quest to improve as an artist and one day , make artwork that I could sell but then people come and buy out the things that I need dammit D:! I just hope I can get one next week...
On the bright side I got some good digital artbooks and was taken out for KFC(ahhh how do stepfathers know what you like :O?). And a slightly down side , why did I have to see
these while looking for tablets...perhaps I should ask for a pair for my birthday(remember kids , Leah blows out 23 candles on January 10th , 2008)or get some when I get my next paycheck or be crazy and dip into my savings account for headphones DX...damn you sexy headphones !!!
Love(but none for little old ladies),
Leah
