Koyama walked into their break room - fingers pressed against the back of his neck, moving in small circles as he tried to get rid of the kink there. "Massu, the patient in room 704 was requesting you. He won't deal with any of the other doctors."
Massu glanced up from the chart he'd been studying and nodded. "Sure! 704... Satoshi-kun, right? I wonder if he'd want me to bring the sock puppets..."
Ryo snorted; Massu ignored him. "That was one of the conditions," Koyama said dryly as he settled into his chair. "No sock puppets. No gimmicks."
Massu laughed, shaking his head as he stepped out of the doorway, pulling the door closed behind him. "Too bad, I'd gotten a new joke," he mumbled before it shut.
"Kids. I don't know how Massu can deal with them," Ryo said, shutting the book he'd been studying.
"He enjoys being around them! And they like him a lot too," Tegoshi pointed out while still chewing on some rice. He swallowed.
"Probably because he's just as child-like as they are," Ryo snorted.
Bang. Books fell onto a table and all eyes went to Shige who was pushing his glasses up, staring straight at Ryo with a fixed glare. "Stop making fun of Massu. Don't you ever think of how he feels?"
Ryo gave Shige a funny face before saying slowly, "It was a joke." He shook his head. "You're a surgeon. Give yourself a funny bone, will you?"
Tegoshi choked on his food, swallowing before cracking up. Even Koyama cracked a smile, shaking his head as he did so but still - the corners of his lips went up. Ryo grinned widely, obviously pleased with himself. However Shige made a face at him before sitting down at his table, flipping through books he needed.
For a handful of minutes, the room was plunged into silence. Tegoshi continued eating. Shige went back to studying, as did Ryo. And Koyama rested his head on the table, hoping to maybe get a few minutes of sleep in.
The door slammed open behind them and all of them jumped out of their chairs in surprise. Koyama swiveled his chair around to see Yamapi walking into the room, a hand pressed against his forehead.
"Fucking director," he complained, slamming the door behind him as well. Everyone cringed at the noise, but nobody said a word.
"Problems again?" Ryo asked, eyebrow raised.
"Money issues again. Threatening to cut back on departments he deems unworthy." Yamapi scoffed before throwing himself onto the couch next to Ryo.
"Anyone in particular here that's in trouble?" Ryo asked innocently.
Yamapi laughed sardonically. "Like I'm going to say." He rested his head back, eyes shut - eyebrows furrowed, meeting in the middle. Koyama immediately jumped up, heading to the corner of the room where all their drinks were and prepared a cup of tea for Yamapi. "I don't know why he thinks I'll go along with what he's asking. I helped make this damn hospital."
Ryo patted him sympathetically on the back. "And got us all our jobs. So you should at least give us a hint who's in trouble."
Yamapi opened his eyes again, only to throw Ryo a glare.
"Ryo-tan," Tegoshi said reprimanding, before moving to their couch and sitting next to Yamapi. "Here, Yamashita-kun, you should eat something."
Yamapi smiled at the younger boy before taking a bit of rice and saying happily, "Oichi~"
"Umai, ne?" Tegoshi grinned.
Koyama came around a second later with tea for Yamapi, and gave him a smile. "I'm sure it'll all work out, Yamapi. You know how weird the director can get about the hospital."
Yamapi sighed. "Yeah. I know." He took some of Tegoshi's omelette with a smile and Koyama watched as he told Tegoshi enthusiastically that his dinner was really good. Ryo rolled his eyes beside him, shaking his head.
