Nov 03, 2013 08:35

I must have said sorry for a dozen times for not updating for so long, but at least I can guarantee you that I will finish this fic as long as there are still people willing to read. For those who are still with me, thank you so much for your support, i wouldn't have gotten this far without you. Without further rambling, here it is, the new chapter ( Read more... )

This is such a great chapter, Kajornwan! It was exciting from start to finish, and I loved pretty much every moment. Feodora gets more and more awesome with each chapter, and I really liked the interaction between Fei Long and Yoh.

My favorite scene was the one of Alexei - it was both visually and emotionally impactful. Oh, and cool as fuck.

And the scene when Fei Long threatened to kill himself - although I saw that coming (maybe because I share the same principle), it was still as riveting as it would have been if I hadn't.

I want to commend you especially on writing emotions and action scenes. The latter is something I struggle with, so I really admire you for that.

And I am so looking forward to the upcoming chapters. Nothing beats hand-to-hand combat - it's raw, gritty, and really fucking awesome. One more thing I forgot to mention before - you mentioning Moonlight Becomes You made me smile like a mad, mad thing. That song means a lot to me. I prefer Bing Crosby and Chet Bakers versions, though ( ... )

You can call me Faye ^_^ Kajornwan is actually my real name. Faye is my nickname and what we use around here.

My favorite scene was the one of Alexei - it was both visually and emotionally impactful. Oh, and cool as fuck.
*This is the sound of my fist banging on the table* I'm so glad I managed to get the scene through. I saw that scene like a movie in my head and it was one of the most beloved images in this entire series. Handsome Alexei in a tux, spreading his wings and conducting this explosion of awakening. If only I could draw!! It appears you've seen what was in my head and that was utterly flattering!

Me? Action scenes? I think I suck at that too, which is why you can expect the next chapter to not come quickly. I have no freaking idea how to write that fight *cries and go drown in a Bruce Lee movie marathon*

Nothing beats hand-to-hand combat - it's raw, gritty, and really fucking awesome. Please don't say that. It's me who have to write it *screams and yanks hair ( ... )

Kajornwan is actually my real name.

Really?? I didn't know that! And so now I guess I can ask: how the Hell do you pronounce that :D ?

And oh yeah, I wanted to say: I forgot to mention it, but the Alexei scene totally worked for me too! I could see it, even feel it in my bones. Judging by the comments, I think you can safely count this one as a complete success :)

Just as it says: Ka-chorn-One. It's a weird name even for Thai people. Sort of life Feodora perhaps (a Russian reader told me).

I'm glad the Alexei scene works for you too *_* Ah that satisfying feeling when you can make a reader see something you see!

Just as it says: Ka-chorn-One.

This is NOT how I would pronounce it in any of the languages I've ever spoken :P Which is precisely why I asked you about it, silly :D

I figured you'd try to pronounce it like something fancy due to your European roots. We have no correct spelling for Thai names, we just have to make it sound like one so if you can't pronounce it right in English, it means I have messed up the spelling T_T

The main problem, really, is that the letter J is pretty much pronounced differently in every European language :P For example, French, English, Spanish and Slovenian ALL have a different way to pronounce it! So when I see a J in a foreign word or name, I literally have no idea what it's supposed to sound like unless I already know the language (and even then...)

Also: I took my son to a Thai restaurant when he was here the last time, and he agrees with me that written Thai is mind-blowingly beautiful to look at :) He also loved the food :D

สวยตรงไหนวะ? (how the hell is it beautiful?) That was what I said to Alexis when she told me it was beautiful. It's a messy language that is ridiculously hard to write for me. But I have to boast, our food is hard to beat when it comes to the Asian continent.

As for my name, it's the letter "จ" in ขจรวรรณ which is more J (as in John) than "Ch" so I had to go with 'J'. Although you are right, that letter is pronounced ten different ways in ten different countries! In English I think it's just normal 'J'? When you see a Thai name (or Asian names actually) written in English, you can assume it's read the English way as that's the only foreign language we use around here ^_^

สวยตรงไหนวะ?

*squees* OMG, SO PRETTY :D ! Seriously, it looks like miniature arabesques, tiny works of art. It combines the flowing style of Arabic with the elegant formality of kanji. Perfect :D !

Okay, I'll call you Faye then! I think Del told me that's your name in the previous chapter's comments, but I didn't want to be presumptuous and start calling you by your name, in case it's too personal. So I went with your username instead. But that's your real name? Wow, it's very unique! :) Does it mean anything (if you don't mind my asking)?

Actually, I saw that scene like a movie, too. I just really really love it - glass shattering everywhere, it looks so fucking cool. And I also feel Mikhail needed that wake-up call.

Well, I think all the action scenes you've written thus far are EPIC. And I really admire that cos I don't know how to write action/adventure stuff. Or sci-fi. Or horror. Or fluff. Or humor. Or crack. Haha. There's lots of things I don't know how to write.

But I recommend Donnie Yen movies. He's awesome. Oh and the Taken movies, too.

*high fives back* Chet Baker's version is instrumental cos he's a trumpeter. If you like jazz, you should check out Karly Jurgensen. She's one of my favorite musicians ( ... )

It's not unique, it's Thai (I'm Thai) and English is my second language as with Faye being the easier pronunciation for my international friends of my nickname "Fai" (that no one can pronounce correctly - sort of 'fire' without the R but shorter and with resonant). As for the meaning, Fai = cotton, Kajorn = well known, popular, Wan = beauty. I believe it's Sanskrit or something. It's not a common name, BTW.

Thanks for the recommendation on the movies! I'll be sure to check it out.

I love Jazz, opera, classical, broadway and yes, heavy metal. XD

English is your second language??? Damn, you're good. I wouldn't even have known.

I'm trying to improve on my English and Japanese. Cos I kinda suck at both. Haha. I'm way better at English though, which is pretty damn ironic, I guess.

But "well known beauty". What a great name to have!

Wow, your tastes differ from mine, then. I love a lot of music, but mostly pop rock stuff. Some standards. I have some rap, RnB, and folk on my iPod. Acoustic stuff, no opera or metal though.

But I try to be open minded about music, cos it's something I can't live without.

I've also been raised all over the world so my English is kinda better than my elementary Thai. But this is a curse for "exported" students, we end up sucking in all languages especially our own. =_=

So you're actually Japanese? If you don't mind me asking ^_^

I tend to be extreme in my choices LOL Anything that brings out the most emotion in me I go for. And Operatic arias just make my cry! These days I listen to Jazz and movie soundtracks the most.

Yeah, I am actually Japanese. Well, most of me anyway. One quarter of me is American, but I try not to acknowledge that part cos it's from my mother who walked out on me. I don't mind you asking, Faye. Of course, there are some questions I wouldn't answer, but stuff like this is perfectly fine. Ask away! :)

But ironically, I am WAY more fluent in English than Japanese. My father raised me to speak English first, because it's the most important language (they don't call it the international language for nothing). I neglected my Japanese though so everywhere I go I get these dirty looks like, "You're such a disgrace. Don't you know any Japanese?" Haha.

But I live in Singapore now so I get a pass from those dirty looks! Haha. Unfortunately, the level of English here is abysmal. I can't understand a thing anyone says. *sighs*

Hmm.. I'm not familar with opera, actually. Maybe I should give it a shot.

Meeeehh and here I thought I was going to bribe you to translate that last part in FnR with Mikhail for me T_T

But I get you, Japanese is not easy especially if you haven't been brought up with it.

Opera, if you're interested I can give up some reccs. It takes a lot of getting used to but once you are, it's one of those kind of music that can tear you to pieces and make you cry like babies.

Well, y'know, you wouldn't have had to bribe me. If I were much better at Japanese, I would have willingly translated the novel. But the translation would have been slooooow! Haha. I don't get to go online as much as I would like. On day, I'm gonna like take a year off and just explore fandom all the time! Haha.

But if you're interested in a translation, I know of a group that's doing it. I can't post their name here, but I can PM you with the link if you want. They haven't completed it yet, though.

Well, actually, Japanese is pretty easy - it's just that I have less interest in it compared to English. But I do love the language, and I find it easier to pick up than other languages. Like French, for instance. Haha. But I guess at the end of the day, interest and passion can make anything easy or difficult, depending on how much you have of it.

Thanks for the offer, Faye! I don't know if I could appreciate opera, but I wouldn't mind giving it a shot. Which one's your favorite?
