I haven't watched the latest Torchwood yet. All five episodes are on my DVR, and right now I'm undecided about watching it.
Why? Because I got spoiled the fuck out of it. First on Twitter by the gnashing teeth and dismay of people who downloaded it when it aired on the BBC, and the resulting fucking #hashtag campaign designed not only to spoil their followers, but anyone watching trending topics. THANKS A FUCKING LOT. And it's just aired in the US, and people are already making open posts about it. What the FUCK, people, WHAT THE FUCK? I understand you're upset -- I'm not pleased at all with it myself. But what is it about this incident that is making people completely disregard any spoiler etiquette whatsoever?
For some shows I'm a spoiler ho. I post 'em, and I LABEL AND CUT-TAG THEM. Other shows I avoid spoilers. I don't seek them out, and I don't join comms where they might be openly posted. I respect the wishes of my friends not to be spoiled, and I believe -- at least I used to -- that they respected mine.
Cut this shit out. Please? Give shows at least a week before you start openly discussing spoilers. Watch your icons and even your mood. Sorry to harsh your squee (or lack thereof), but it's really fucking rude to so carelessly spoil your friends. I'm not naming names, I'm not holding grudges, I'm not defriending anyone in a fit of pique, my momentary rage blackout will pass, I'm just saying it's not nice, please please please stop it.
