Unpopular opinion

Jul 25, 2009 22:05

I haven't watched the latest Torchwood yet. All five episodes are on my DVR, and right now I'm undecided about watching it.

Why? Because I got spoiled the fuck out of it. First on Twitter by the gnashing teeth and dismay of people who downloaded it when it aired on the BBC, and the resulting fucking #hashtag campaign designed not only to spoil ( Read more... )

Since when is it considered an unpopular opinion to NOT want to be spoiled?

All I can really say though is WORD.

And I might be unfollowing a lot of people on Twitter come fall to avoid being spoiled for my shows.

Right there with ya, babe. You can't really mute someone on Twitter without unfollowing them, so if people start spouting spoilers, I don't have a choice but to unfollow.

I'm sorry (((((kajivar)))). I've got no excuse, unless you count being sick along with what happened.

*Relaxes into the hug.* I know I could've made more use of spoiler cuts. I'm not so sure how well I could watch my icons and my mood. It made me so sad and so angry.

I don't know what it is about this one -- I guess because people are so upset that they forget to filter?

I'm with you when it comes to LJ, but Twitter is a different world w/o the same general and accepted mores, and as much as it would be nice for everyone to be polite, it's built for by-the-minute reactions. That part of the machine never quits. I think it's an unrealistic expectation to be able to surf Twitter safely when it comes to spoilers, I really do ( ... )

Yeah, I'm going to have to seriously reconsider how I use Twitter once the fall season starts up. I don't mind some spoilers, but the Torchwood one was huge. Thus the tantrum. ;)

I have been, however, clicking merrily on the CSI spoilers you've posted. :)

Because who really gives a shit about CSI anymore? LOL, I mean, we sort of do, but... not really. :P If rocks fell and everyone died, I think half my f'list would have a LULZ type reaction.

I would have been like that with BSG. I basically lived in a cave for a week, because I really didn't want to know.

Exactly how I handled both COE and BSG. I did post some spoilers... safely behind an LJ cut and *only* here. I did want to tweet out "NO!!!!!" at a certain point, but, and remember this kids, I did not!

I will unfollow anyone I follow on Twitter who blurts out spoilers there. No matter how long I've known you and how cool I think you are otherwise, that is just so not good form.
